I went to CWRU back in the late 90s. It's a fine place. Very brainy and engineering focused.
Cleveland is cold and snowy. There is almost a daily snowfall in Jan which I liked (I love snow). I'm not sure I'd send my kids there I was the one making the decision (I'm not). I'd like them to have a bit more of a well-rounded experience. Case is like MIT/JHU/etc. Very STEM focused and kind of a hard fit if you're turned on by that. |

Previous poster.
Sorry for the typo. (I omitted a word). "Very STEM focused and kind of a hard fit if you're NOT turned on by that". I was not a STEM major at CWRU so it wasn't the best fit for me. For others it was their dream environment. |
We've received more e-mails from Case Western and Wash Univ of St Louis than any other college. They are relentless, lol. |
From what I've seen, Case has taken a lot of steps to become more well-rounded in business/arts and science and not just STEM-focused. They just spent millions on a new theatre I think also. |
could you share what you did study there? |
What steps have you seen? |
Do you mind sharing stats and how much merit? My junior would love to go there, but I’m concerned by the cost |
If you go to College Confidential on the Case Western EA thread, there are lots of posts on stats and merit received. But the max merit they gave this year was 40500 and sticker price went up to 81K |
Thanks for adding this gratuitous piece of information! |
I think the MIT piece is important so that we know she can speak to what MIT kids are like. |
| CWRU is the best school……in Ohio |
Sorry, I take it yours didn’t get in. |
PP here. Heard during walking tour, received their marketing materials, and most importantly spoke to current students. |
Might not be relevant anymore but my DD got 25k with a 33 ACT and a 3.95UW back in 2020. |
NP, but it was top 5 for my DD along with Pitt, Oberlin, Purdue, and Grinnell. She chose Grinnell in 2020 but two of her classmates chose Case. Their top picks (they talked about this as friends of my DD) were Kenyon, URochester, Georgetown, and Syracuse for bio & anthropology and Bryn Mawr, Denison, Smith, and American for history & art history. |
