If they could turn a commercial office building into an elementary school in a matter of months (Bailey's Upper ES), they can turn a K-12 private school into a 9-12 neighborhood high school in a couple of years (Skyview). I'd say these are just the voices inside your head, but FCPS is so lacking in both competence and confidence these days that such "rumblings" don't seem entirely beyond the pale. But mostly that would just mean they need to grow a spine and stick with the program. |
Surprise. Surprise. Draw a bunch of crappy proposals nobody likes and shift to magnet talk. Reid is a master manipulator. |
| Fire Reid and find someone who can execute a board directive. She's an awful combination of sneaky and incompetent. |
They have just drawn up way too many boundary changes too fast which have fired everyone up. Maybe this was her strategy to get it to be a magnet. Genius? |
How did we change so much in 12 years? Golly Reid has really got to go. |
You keep trying to introduce this idea every couple of days, but it's not working. The vote has already been taken. Give it up, you lost. It is a traditional school. |
| Reid has one skill, manipulation, and she has it in abundance. Yes, she is driving Skyview to become a magnet school. Even Stevie Wonder can see it coming. Sadly the parents in FCPS can’t yet see it and won’t until it is too late. |
| So if they made it a magnet, would they scrap boundary changes completely? Or would they still try to deal with the fact that Chantilly is overcrowded? They are going to get raked over the Kohl’s if they go back on their plan now because they just did a whole countywide boundary review where they could’ve made changes to relieve Chantilly and did not because of this new high school. |
+1 and Fox Mill wants to go there. |
There is nothing about this that has been “too fast”. It is being unnecessarily complicated by bringing on xyz contractors when a group of average but invested parents and community members could have had this sorted out much more easily. |
There are equally valid considerations that weigh in favor of moving Crossfield rather than Fox Mill to Skyview. |
Scenarios 2 and 3 were based on objective standard. We will have new scenarios. The public will have a chance to provide input. And Reid will make her recommendation at least partially based on the community input. |
Pray tell on what other issue has Reid considered community input? |
That's not what the consultants found. Oakton is currently at 103%, which is on target. They identified more current / future development in Reston and Scenario 3 moved Fox Mill from South Lakes. |
It did not consider new development in Oakton Why? It's current and immediate future. Not just speculative. |
