You're assuming Brittany was acting rationally. Criminals don't weigh the pros and cons like this. My guess is that she was frustrated about her life in general (or about something specific), and in her own mind had some valid excuse/justification for why she had merchandise in her bag (was intending to pay for it, was owed it for being underpaid in her job, etc.). When she found out Jayna told the manager (or that Jayna was intending to tell the manager; maybe Jayna didn't actually admit to Brittany that she had already called the manager), she took that as a personal affront from Jayna, and basically used Jayna as a scapegoat for her life frustrations. |
But why if there is a bag check at the end of every shift would any employee steal by putting merchandise in their bag that they know is going to be checked? There is a 100% chance they will be caught. It seems if she has a history of theft she'd be a better thief. I think there has to be more or something else happened. And if she had been caught before with minimal consequence, then why would she murder over getting caught this time? |
I was told that she had applied for a job at Equinox and was in the process of being hired. If that is the case which I believe it is (I work there) then she was worried that word would get out in which case she would NOT have gotten that job. And that was her ticket out of Lululemon! |
Maybe she had figured out a way to steal without getting caught previously? I wonder if her lululemon clothing that she was wearing on the news was stolen? Maybe her tactic was to pretend she forgot something so that when she would go back into the store she would stuff it into her bag as she could have set it somewhere specifically. Then not thinking that Jayna would check the bag since they had already done that she went to leave after supposedly getting the wallet and Jayna knowing what she knew said wait a minute and that was the straw that broke the camels back! Brittany snapped! Brittany could have been selling clothes from Lululemon for extra cash. Who knows? Bottom line is that she had a MAJOR anger problem and more than likely she would have murdered someone at some point. |
I also think that the police should do a trace of everywhere that she has lived in her life and look to see if there are any unsolved mysteries. She very well could have murdered in other places. Now that they have her DNA they could link her to other murders that they previously couldn't determine. Anyone that could murder the way that she murdered Jayna could very well have murdered someone else. She seem pretty unmoved by her actions that is for sure. She is capable of anything. |
Someone suggested in another thread - perhaps there was a romantic relationship between the two? It could explain the over the top violence Brittany displayed. They said the victim's spine was severed ![]() |
This cannot be what happened because Jayna did find clothes in the bag when she checked it before closing. Brittany did not wait to put the clothes in the bag until she went back in. |
There is NO way that they were having a romantic relationship! That is just some crap someone made up to make it sound more reasonable. forget about it. she was just a NASTY, ANGRY person. She was afraid that she would not be able to get a job anywhere else if word got out. Bethesda is a small TIGHT community and if you get a bad rap in that community you are DONE. And she knew that! |
But she could have been adamant about taking the clothes anyway! She may have thought that because it was just supposed to be a run in to get the wallet that no way would she check the bag again! |
But quite frankly I think she planned to do her in so that she wouldn't get found out for the theft and ruin her chances of other opportunities in the area. Especially if she got hired at Equinox for Sales because she would easily be able to steal from their store if she wanted to. Or at least that is the way it appears. |
How come we haven't heard more about Brittany's family and her history. Have they come forward yet? The article said she has 3 sisters and a brother? |
Why should they "come forward"? |
Why should they "come forward"? They're dealing with the devastating situation of knowing that someone they love committed a heinous crime. Why expose themselves to armchair psychoanalysis from people like us? I suspect that what they most need is the time & privacy to process this devastating news. And that could take years. |
A family member met with her just before she was arrested at the police headquarters. |
I am aware of that. I still do not understand what people expect from the family and what they mean when they think family members should "come forward." Does showing up at the police station not count as "coming forward." OR do we the public deserve a weepy interview on the Today Show? I don't get it. |
