+1 would love to get people’s thoughts.

+3 - not a fed but deeply affected by it and following closely. Consensus is avoiding shutdown seems more likely than not, right now.

What kind of cad is he to make you work when he is rolling in money? Sorry, does he have some kind of pre-nup over your head? I'm sure he still loves you, for now at least.

I’ve been told we’re waiting for OMB approval of the plan before they can share any details.

I’ve also been told, informally, that this time around we have alternate funding and will keep working. This will be a surprise to many as we have been furloughed in the past.

Same here- that we have carryover funds for a month at least. Which confuses me as at my previous agency I didn’t think carryover funds existed? Certainly not enough to keep the entire workforce paid for weeks. There was always a mad dash to spend funds at the end of the fiscal year, even if the agency had only gotten its appropriations a few months prior (late).

According to the Dem Member of Congress I spoke with last night, 75 percent chance of a shutdown on Monday. (The chance of a super short term shutdown on Sunday being higher.)

Im sure he doesn't make her work. Some of us enjoy and find value in our careers.

In the event of a shutdown that extends for, say, weeks, do feds get paid for the half pay period they worked this week? I don’t see how because wouldn’t time sheets need to be certified?

Well, at least there’s some hope it won’t shut down. And maybe if it does, it’ll be for a few days only. As someone said, the GOP House is entering a box canyon.

That may be part of the monday furlough procedures.. who knows. You aren't getting paid unless your time is in the system/certified.

I’m at the fcc and we have been told nothing. I think they are waiting until the last minute for the hopes nothing happens. I’ve also been told informally we have some amount of carry over funds.

I haven’t been told anything but the agency has been cancelling October events.

back pay is the law now. shutdowns do nothing but waste money, quite a lot of money.

basically in a shutdown congress is just pissing money into your cheerios, and then when they are done, they will tell you to eat it.

timekeepers/payroll are excepted personnel. if there is a shutdown there will be four hours on monday for "orderly shutdown" activities, which will include setting an ooo message on email and voicemail as well as filling out and validating your time for the prior week. if there is an extended shutdown agencies plan to issue a partial paycheck for pp20.

once a shutdown happens for your agency, all future leave is cancelled. if you are excepted and would need to take leave anyway the leave request would need to be resubmitted and you would be placed into furlough status.
