Why are people in MD so rude?

People in MD (Bethesda) walk with their heads down or walk past you like you don’t exist. For the record, I live on the Maryland side and am new to the area and disappointed that people are so unfriendly.

MD is the new New Jersey.

Truth. I believe driver’s Ed isn’t required and it shows. They just have to pass a written test.

Alternative “facts” ….

MD requires drivers Ed and has strict graduated licensing for provisional drivers … strong penalties for aggressive driving and If you report aggressive drivers’ car details and location, the police will send officers to catch up with them and warn them.

That's not a strong penalty you fool. I live in Maryland, and I'm friendly, but no, there are not strong penalties for aggressive driving.

Exhibit A - the idiot who hit the cop on 270 last week

Why are you limiting this to MD NOVA folks are just as rude, I live in Alexandria and can assure you there are plenty of rude people here too.

I grew up in Maryland, and it’s a Bethesda thing. I live there now and ugh. Can’t wait to move once the kids are off to college.

Bethesda is one part of Maryland. We are friendly over in Silver Spring

Anonymous wrote:Thanks for the heads up OP. I’m from the deep south and considering a move to the DMV area. I can’t stand rude people so I’ll be crossing MD off my list, among other reasons as well.

What are the most friendly areas and neighborhoods in the area? I’ll be moving up as a single woman in my mid-40s (empty nester).

You really base your decision on where to live based on one person's experience?

They’re mad that the taxes are so high. I live in Maryland and agree this area sucks. People are so rude.

Right, no one has pride in Maryland at all ever. /s

Man we have the flag printed on everything. People love being Marylanders.

Have you added handcuffs and machetes to your flag yet?

Tell that to all the VA and DC drivers we see out here in the MD suburbs. They have no clue what they are doing.

Virginia drivers are absolutely the worst in the country- it's not even up for debate, they're constantly placing in the top 2 spots

https://www.axios.com/local/richmond/2022/12/12/worst-drivers-us-virginia-utah

https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/virginia/virginia-drivers-among-worst-in-the-country-survey-says/65-6ed48360-aef9-4ec0-981a-ede9c85872d0

The fact that they would even try to lie and claim Maryland drivers are so awful is pretty farcical considering the data.

It's funny how they always try to deny that Maryland drivers are notorious in the DMV. I'm not sure if it's cynical deflection or actual cluelessness. Given the state of their driving, probably the latter.

Notorious to whom? Loser Virginians who have been proven by statistical fact to be horrific drivers and thus the worst judges of others' driving?? How about you guys crawl your way out of the bottom spot on the "worst drivers in the country" stats and maybe you'll have a single leg to stand on when throwing stones at others?

Why would we when Maryland has the most iconic flag in the country? Have you guys added guns and a rusted out trailer to yours?

No, I've found the same thing across the DC metro. People are stressed. Bethesda is probably worse than many other places.
