Dear middle-aged women: capri pants do nothing for you.

Capri pants just scream "COMFORTABLE BUT UNATTRACTIVE!!!"

I don't understand at all what's wrong with capris. I'm a middle-aged mom and at 48 have finally matured enough not to give a rat's ass what someone else thinks. Especially something as innocuous as capris. You obviously don't have much going on in your life if that really bothers you.

You are adorable and beautiful in anything you choose to dress your own body in. The only thing possibly ugly about a person would be harboring a critical and judgmental soul, pretending that your unwillingness to see the beauty in others is actually "sound fashion advice".. makes me think of Satan spewing hate-filled and destructive words into the hearts of God's beloved. Oh, btw, I just adore my new capris, and I will rock these babies tomarrow with a big happy grin on my face!!

I'm only 5'4", and I love long capris, because on me they are ankle pants.

I read someplace - some fashion-y guide - that the problem with capris is they often hit right at the widest part of your calf, and so you look dumpy and your legs look thick. The solution therefore is to have them end higher, or lower. I go with the lower option, an inch or two above the ankle, and I think it's a decent enough look in the summer.

I'm a size 12, and so I'm not going to say I look stunning in them, but I do think it's a decent enough look for the summer.

Dear Hoochie Mama:
You will not be young forever. I am also at an age where I do not care what any young idiot thinks about fashion. I have a uniform of styles that suit me and that's good enough for me. DH still loves it too, so that's a bonus. Diane Keaton is my fashion guru--she wears them and looks fabulous.

Why is this thread still going on 4 months after the original post??

Audrey Hepburn was one of the few women who looked good in capris.

She wore cigarette pants not capris. Big difference. Capris are usually cut higher and flare out. I wear cigarette pants but would never wear capri pants.

STOP REVIVING YEAR OLD THREADS, CRAZY LADY.

Today Tim Gunn went on Good Morning America and told everyone capris make women look 5lb heavier. Ha ha.

He is right. Capri or cropped pants make everyone's legs look stumpy. Audrey Hepburn was an outlier.

I think it's time to address OP's next concern about men wearing shirts tucked in over their pot bellies.

OP here.

Surprised to see this thread resurrected.

Anyway, it's warming up around here, so I'm sure I'll start seeing lots of ankles peeking out of capris soon.

Agreed. I'm gonna wear them now just to drive people crazy.

Oh, don't overestimate yourself.

How about Skorts. They look like a skirt with the benefit of shorts. I'm not found of capris, but don't want to wear shorts - too casual.
