Why do you suppose so many nannies eat themselves into oblivion?

Yes, you're right, being thin doesn't guarantee that the person will be healthy however, being overweight isn't the example I want set for my children. I don't believe the nanny had thyroid issues but I'm not completely sure. My children are young and very energetic and I need someone with the motivation to keep up. Yes, she could have been energetic and I'm not ruling that out but again, I'd rather not waste my time taking chances.

I also want someone who will practice healthy eating in front of my kids.

Anyways, I did contact the other nanny and she is still available so I'm thinking about setting up an interview and seeing where it goes.

Thank you to those who offered valuable advice and answered my question.

Did you ask her what she eats on a daily basis? Again, you're assumptions are what's offensive. Not every overweight individual pigs out all day. I hope you're not modeling this same close-mindedness to your children. That's more concerning than anything.

Oh please. The nanny is a fatty. She didn't get that way eating carrot sticks all day.

You're just all continuing assumptions and it's really sad. I'm not an obese nanny, FYI, but I was. Ever since beginning nannying 7 years ago I've always been a healthy eater. I just had to make other changes to get my weight under control. And now that I've done that of course I'm healthier and of course I'm happier. But I'm not and never was in denial about my weight. Whether or not I or any other nanny was is not yours to judge anyhow.

You all make me very sad for your children. Do you really think calling people names or telling them they're only in denial helps?

And how do you know she's not working on a healthier lifestyle? Stfu and grow up.

Honestly all of the ex t or current big nannies need to get over themselves. Shaming OP because she choose to make a decision about who she hires! She is the boss and can hire whomever she sees fit. If you don't like that, well then that is too bad, because her decision has been made!

Did any of you ever not do something wrong, and deserving of shame? I'm sure you have, so getting off your high horse would be most appreciative. Thyroid problem here, I know I'm big but working on it there...well, if you gave a damn in the first place you wouldn't be fat would you?...

I wouldn't hire a fat woman either. Yes I will make assumptions and assume she can not keep up, as most can't. But it is my choice, if it bites me in the behind, then lesson learned. My choice, my consequence and will just hire a new nanny---but since I don't worry about that since I have a pretty amazing nanny, if I ever did this then it would work for the best or I'd learned from my judgment. Crucify me all you want, I don't care. I have a nanny whom I love and care for and does an awesome job with the kids. She didn't just claim she was healthy, she has demonstrated this and thus my kids have learned to like a lot of healthy foods, my kids love sports so we're good . As for the big nannies, you can deny all you want or make an excuse and shame the OP. All you really need to do, is loo at yourself before you blame someone else for your short coming...you could have avoided getting as big as you did, and now you expect sympathy! Get real!

I've been with my current family for two years now. When my MB began her search she refused to interview anyone overweight/obese. They love that I'm active, eat healthy and think that my lifestyle will have a positive influence on my charge. Why wouldn't you want that for your kids? I don't blame you OP.

I know exactly! All these obese nannies just want a free pass and more reason to eat eat and eat and justify claiming anyone who doesn't understand them should be ashamed!
haha what a joke! Like they haven't made a decision EVER in their life, that made them look like ASSES!!!!

You're really sad.

Signed,

Average weight nanny who used to be an overweight nanny.

Obese nannies, please don't try to make others feel sorry for your unhealthy decisions. If someone is truly obese because of a medical problem and that only--meaning they otherwise lead a healthy lifestyle then ok sure, I'm sorry for you. But if you expect me to sympathize with you because you choose to eat junk and not exercise, no. Absolutely not. Everyone is capable of being healthy and active no matter what your resources may consist of. I get it. Gym memberships are expensive. Walking is free.

Okay, no need for name calling as that is very immature and definitely inappropriate.

That said, why the heck would the nanny send OP an older picture then when it's time to interview, not think OP would be a bit flustered?? Who did she think she was fooling?
