After a 2 weeks of 12 hour days I am so burnt out right now that I'm relying on independent play and hopefully a long nap to make it through this day... Kudos to live in's who work more then my usual 50 (or these last few weeks 60) hour weeks!
Thank god it's Friday. |
| Older nannies such as yourself should cut down on their hours and work no more than 45 hours a week. In a few years you can retire and enjoy your grandkids. |
Op here: peeyew, i can smell the sarcasm from here... I'm actually probably younger then you op I can almost promise you.... And I work with 3 under 3 so I reserve the right to be exhausted.

OP, you need an extra day off. Can you talk w/ your MB to see if there is a way to take a day off, or work only a half day or something next week?
I have twin 2 year olds and 3 under 3 for 12 hrs a day every day is guaranteed burn out in my eyes. Hope you have something planned this weekend that really lets you rejuvenate a bit. Not sure what crawled into 8:19 and died but she's easily disregarded.

| I'm with you OP! I've been working a bunch of extra hours, planning a wedding, going to school full time, trying to start a business, and I'm throwing my friend a baby shower this week. I'm counting the hours until thanksgiving break. |
| I've been working 12hr shifts ever since I became a nanny 10+ years ago. You are lazy of you can't handle 12hrs! |
| The poster above: learn English first if you are gonna mock someone. |
Sitting on DCUM whilst working makes you a lazy nanny. Stop trying to pick on OP just to make your pathetic self feel better. It doesn't work. |
you might want to think about learning it yourself first |

I usually work 50 hours/week, but over the last couple of weeks I also worked 5 hour long date nights for another family right after my regular Friday hours. Tie that in with a 2.5 hour daily commute, and it's tiring at times.
No date night this weekend (thank god), but I'm performing in a Kung Fu demo on Sunday, and spent the early hours of this morning helping to set up the temple. Then I have a dress rehearsal tomorrow, followed by the show, which my bosses and charge are attending... amongst other family and friends
So I have a busy/fun weekend coming up. Then Monday will roll around again too soon. Ah well, such is life.
I hope you have an enjoyable relaxing weekend OP, and the rest of you ladies as well!!

Op here: Man, I love all of you positive posters above! And to the pp who called me lazy, that is totally fine! Call me anything you like doesn't bother meeeee.
Hope you ladies (assuming) have a nice relaxing weekend

It sounds like you're very burnt out. Don't do the job. To work for 12 hours a day straight isn't healthy. There's nothing that justifies the fact you'll give away your health for money. How do you have any time for a social life? Do you have family in the area or a boyfriend?
If you're unhappy or unhealthy, and if you can't make it so you are happy and healthy (by juggling schedules or whatever), then quit. Life's too short. |
I think this is a bit extreme. 12 hour days are not short but one can still have a healthy, active social life with this schedule. OP just sounds tired (which she has every right to be!) not ready to quit. Have a relaxing weekend, OP, you are almost there! I personally am counting down the hours until brunch and veg out time! |

If you’re consistently working 12-hour days, you’re going to really struggle to find a work-life balance. Working 12 hours days is extreme and just stupid IMO. I have tried doing this when I used to work for a doctor family. It's SO draining.
Being a nanny may be your passion and as such it can be very tempting to spend every spare minute in it. However you need to stretch your identity. I really don't understand how you can find time outside of working 12 hour days to do social stuff. |
Consistently working 12-hour days is not sustainable. 12 hours days are extrame and this is WHY OP is TIRED. |
