+1 I agree. Working 12 hours days makes you bored, is NOT necessary, and makes it impossible to have a work-life balance. OP do you have dinner with your family? What do you do in the evenings? 12 hours is is a VERY long day. |
How can you have an active social life during the week by working 12 hours a day? I don't get it..... you basically have no work-life balance with this sort of schedule. There is a reason why 40-50 hours is the norm. |
I work from 6:30-6:30, get home in time to make dinner, workout, do homework and still socialize a few nights a week. And I have my weekends....so yeah, 12 hour schedules are totally doable. |

I do not understand how anyone can consider 60 hours weeks to be an acceptable quality of life for themselves or for their family.
|
and when do you go to class? |
|
I don't know how people could do 60 hours a week..I know people do it..but with a commute and working "40 hours" a week that is already enough for me .
I guess working that many hours is alright if you truly would rather be at work than doing anything else.. but even if someone likes their job ...who would rather be at work than doing ANYTHING else in the world?... |

I've worked 60 + hours a week, but for, at most, 4 months. It was ridiculously hard. When I wasn't working, I was sleeping or wishing I was.
My husband works 60+ hours now for several months a year. The only way he can do it is because the rest of the family covers for him. The kids and I do virtually all of the household chores. If he didn't have such family support, there's no way he could do it. These hours could easily lead to a divorce if your spouse doesn't support you. |

Work has replaced living life for many people. Nothing wrong with this if you don't care about having a life outside of work but it's not for everyone and it shouldn't be the standard.

60 is just way too much!
My cut off is 50. On average I do around 45 per week. Sometimes 40, sometimes 50. I think 50 is doable and still give you balance. But more than that is just too much. I value my family, friends and freetime too much. |
|
Working 60+ hours a week is just not worth it. Up until recently I had been working those hours every single week, except for a 1 week vacation in May. It totally burned me out!!! Which is why I left and have a different job now. It was effecting my health, sanity and social life.

Some people are very disciplined, but something has to give. If you are working those kind of hours, even if you are efficient with your time, you'll either give up sleep, or give up activities outside of work.

|
its not healthy and whoever makes it seem like it is workable long term.. they are sacrificing elsewhere unseen.

Op do something for yourself! I work 15 hrs 4 days a week so my Fri was yesterday. Most true Fridays when I'm off I'm at the spa like I am right now
|
yeah because we can all afford to go to the spa every Friday

On Saturday and online, both at a state university...it's possible. |
