I also needed to increase salt in the first week because I got lightheaded. Both of those things helped and I didn't have other side effects except keto breath for a couple of weeks about a month in. I've been following keto for about 18 months. It's been the best thing I have ever done for my health. I've lost almost 70 lb and now maintaining that loss easily. Have lots of energy and mental clarity. I know the diet doesn't work for everyone, but hope you can get past the first days to see if it works well for you.

Any diet that makes you feel lightheaded because of lack of a food can't be good.

Most diets lead to eating less food. You actually don’t have to starve yourself on keto. It’s a misconception.

You eat tons of fat on keto... which is excellent for you if done right. I have been on keto since September - I've lost all the weight I set out to lose and then some.. and kept it off. I drink buttered coffee in the am... It keeps me full until I cook up some eggs.

There is so much research out there on how bad low fat high carb diets are for you. Google it.

You need to continue googling. This is false.

PP, cite your "research" on high carb (plant based, whole food carbs, not processed white flour) being bad for you. Because all the healthiest and longest living populations on the planet eat mostly carbs - and low animal protein and low animal fat.

+1

I eat keto/low carb from time to time to lose fat and you are wrong, PP. Nothing bad about carbs. Too little fats (especially the good ones) is not be a good idea for women though. But your blanket statement is incorrect.

Uhhgg seriously?!? Every single fruit, vegetable, legume and grain has been altered by humans through artificial selection for thousands of years since the beginning of agriculture. This has been done to make food more palatable and easier to digest - all good things!

Not to mention all animals. The cows and chickens you eat are very different from wild animals.

There are vegetables on keto!

I am probably eating a bit too much but loooove my steamed cauliflower with butter!

This is all nonsense. My best friend lost 70 pounds this year by limiting carbs (bread and dessert only on weekends) and eating tons of veggies and fruit, plus walking 4-5 miles every single day. A good common sense way of eating (not "diet") that is yummy, sustainable, and works over months of time. My friend has 30 pounds to go and no doubt will keep do it and keep it off. She is happy and loves her food and is not eating anything weird.

Black coffee is good to go. Some researchers recommend 6 cups max per day, but others say no limit.

Black teas, green teas, herbal teas are also allowed on fasting days, to help curb appetite.

Sorry, but I don't get how others can tolerate most of those leafy veggies! YUCK.

I eat a lot of broccoli, asparagus, green beans, zucchini and tomatoes, but the rest of that list would make me hurl!

I can do it, but only in salad form. Baby spinach, baby kale, arugula, all good as a salad.

Kale is good in soups, but other than that, I agree.
