They aren't moving -- but rather opening a second school. The proposal addresses staffing -- anticipating hiring lots of new teaching but some people doing administrative and business functions would support both campuses. But discussing on DCUM does nothing. Concerns from current parents would be taken seriously by the PCSB. You have to be willing to submit written or oral comments if you want them taken into consideration. |
| With a lease/purchase -- and also want to building an addition, will they close the SD campus? |
You are confusing Mundo Verde with LAMB |
Mundo Verde is hoping to open a second school. The first one will stay where it is and continue operating . |

I would like to learn more about your experience at Bunker Hill. We just got offered a Prk3 seat. Not sure how to message folks that don't login though. pleas feel free to direct message me. |
The public comment period on the application has NOT closed yet. But it will soon. The PCSB vote is 5/22. They want to hear from parents. |
+1 the school has not made it clear enough that the charter school board is seeking input from parents and others in DC. Submit public comments to the charter school board -- sending an email to MV leadership is not enough. |
Is there a way to submit comments anonymously? I thought I did so in the past on another school issue and my name was published. I don't want retribution from the school leadership. |
I know you could make arrangements to submit anonymous comments if by sharing you would violate your child's FERPA rights - e.g. an issue with how your child's IEP was handled that made you concerned about their proposal. If that's the case contact the PCSB staff and they will help you. But any other general concerns or comments must be made on the record if you expect the Board to take them into consideration. I am wondering why you'd stay at a school where you feared retribution from the leadership? What exactly do you think they could or would do to you or your kid? |
You clearly haven't been at an HRCS where we are all expected to 'rah rah rah' and sweep concerns under the rug. It reminds me of my gin drinking, Episcopalian, Northeastern relatives. We don't talk about our own problems. |
Actually I was. But why are you staying??? |
| MV has apparently been planning this expansion for 2 years, but never once mentioned it to existing families. We almost left after a very chaotic year last year, but we decided to stick it out because we understood this year to be the final growth year. Now that the school is at capacity with a fifth grade class for the first time, we expected things to finally stabilize. We didn't know of the expansion plans until 3 weeks ago -- too late to apply to other schools for the fall. So we're stuck with the chaos. |
What's your neighborhood boundary school? |
