Sign up to testify in-person at the public hearing on May 22, by emailing a request to public.comment@dcpcsb.org (link sends e-mail) by no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 18th. Here are the comments received. Also interesting is the Board's assessment that MV is not yet accredited. https://dcpcsb.egnyte.com/fl/igcgIImBUW#folder-link/Mundo%20Verde%20Notices%20to%20ANC%20and%20Public/Public%20Comments |
Interesting - 2 ANCs, a neighborhood group and some individuals neighbors are concerned about the proposed addition and traffic. Sounds like some would be ok with the move if it were limited to existing space and capped enrollment at 458 (current building limit) not 600. |
| Good summary of the state of play of this request here http://www.livebinders.com/play/play?id=2204514&utm_source=DCPCSB%20Staff&utm_campaign=95e8497295-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_04_20&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_67770fb6ed-95e8497295-180602393#anchor |
The overview confirms that I'm not the only MV family who found out about it on here. Apparently you aren't required to notify current families for a school replication? That seems foolish. Current families are concerned if a school grows too quickly. Current families are concerned an administration can be spread too thin. |
Basically, in a nod to the ANCs' concerns, MV has amended its proposed charter amendment to not include a commitment to building an addition at the Potomac Lighthouse building. But they do want the enrollment cap lifted to accommodate 600 more students. It now says that when they get to the point where they can't accommodate their students they will find a 3rd location or revisit an addition with the neighbors. My bet is there won't be a vote tonight. The ANCs are supposed to meet again to discuss the revisions and the charter board will want to wait for that to happen. |
