| What does build an addition mean? Potomac us already 40k square feet. |
Thrybdescribe it as an annex. Said it is needed for the 600 students who would ultimately be enrolled there. |
| Guess they haven't been to the Potomac Lighthouse building we've been to. |
| This is not good. MV barely pays teachers well enough to stay, their culture and discipline leaves a lot to be desire, the only reason it's so popular is Spanish (and they don't even do that well). My guess is they will be like no longer be sought after in 2 years. There are many unhappy families. NO good reason to expand other than revenue/franchise growth and why even try that when they are having the issues they're having? And to top it off, they didn't even communicate with their current families that they were going to expand?! |

A reminder that this is NOT a done deal.

Does anyone have a general sense of how often this kind of application is rejected? |
Basically your snowflake should have the chance for an education at a HRC but you don't want Bunker Hill to have the same. Selfish "I got mine" attitude. SO DCUM. |
More often they are approved with conditions or delayed a year, or the organizers get a sense it may not be approved and withdraw the application. The Charter Board members see and read every comment and take them to heart. It isn't a waste of time to weigh in either way. |

I just read the application and it looks like they are seeking to expand for the 18-19 school year, NOT 17-18 (as it says on the charter board web site).

Yes. Enrollment ceiling would be increased now but replication / new school next year (18-19). Very confusing. |
| Current parent. I have mixed feelings on this. They have suffered from a lot of growing pains over the past few years. This year actually seems pretty good. Finally things are stagnant and seem to be working for pretty much everyone. I understand the desire to create additional spots, but I am concerned about how this will actually work and if it will again throw off the balance that has finally been achieved. |
Charters aren't meant to stagnate. They need to be constantly innovating. Stop wringing your hands and get with the charter way of doing business! |
I read this as stable not stagnant-- I think that's what PP meant. |

Re trump connections at mv That's pretty laughable considering the school's politics and welcoming attitude to immigrants.
Re proposal, haven't had time to read it yet, but would the management team be doubled or would the same folks be trying to manage two schools? Or would this be like a franchise situation? Re optics. Schools should know that current families want to hear news from their school directly well before finding out about it on social media. Re bunker hill mom, don't worry, our concern is for you, too. If the expansion is indeed too fast to handle well, it wouldn't be doing you or current families any favors. - current parent, who is friends with a lot of other happy current parents and somehow have yet to meet the supposed disgruntled ones |
