I was wondering that too. I'm an MV parent and am happy at the school but this all seems premature. Didn't both Two Rivers and LAMB wait a while longer before expanding. This is only the first year MV has even had a fifth grade. |
| Great! |
| With Trump in power the charter board is going to be powerless to turn down proposals that have strong political backing. |
| If MV really wants to serve more kids with bilingual and dual language, why don't they open a school in Ward 7 or 8, and not just 1.5 miles from their current location? |
| Does any school currently occupy the space? Why didn't Breakthrough look into this location? Or did they? |
No school currently does. The full building is very large (thereby very expensive) |
| What's the capacity of DCI? Will they be able to absorb these students in 6 years? Will YY follow suit; don't it, but just a thought. |
DCUM doesn't event look st Bunker Hill because it's black and therefore considered a bad school. Meanwhile, there are more behavioral problems st MV than Bunker Hill but because MV is high SES, white/Hispanic, and teaches language, that's all that matters. |
| MV has a hard enough time hiring high quality Spanish teachers and retaining them from year to year. I do not understand why they would take on more challenges now. Also aftercare needs a lot more attention. I will be providing commments. |
|
This is a money grab by the mv administration, simple as that. There is an excess of demand over supply of charter school seats. Putting over 600 kids in a building of that size allows a huge annual surplus even after mortgage or rent is paid.
MV provides a lousy academic and social atmosphere. I encourage everyone who is a former or current parent with that knowledge to send in their comments. |
MV is contractually linked to DCI and says they've been working on this plan for 2 years. Had to get DCI buy-in before proceeding. |
No. Wrong. |
