Until this most recent attack I'd agree with you. But I think they are also targeting feds. Now how do you feel? |
Like gun restrictions? |
I feel like as the spouse of someone in the military, my spouse, children and I are being threatened. Thats how I feel. That may be targeting feds and if they are they should also have the right to protect themselves. Thats how I am feeling today. Scared. No, make that extremely scared after a decade of normal fears (will spouse make it home alive?) this domestic threat is horrible. Help us. |
"Whosoever shows enmity to a friend of Mine, then I have declared war against him." |
The Washington Post has more information about Abulazeez's background:

"Abdulazeez had been in and out of treatment for his depression and frequently stopped taking his medication, despite his parents’ pleas for him to continue, said a person close to the family." Apparently he was a recreational pot smoker as well. |
So do you think gun sales should be restricted? This guy could buy any gun being sold in this country legally. There has never been a case of a random joe with a gun stopping a terrorist attack. If this guy drove by your house at dinner time and started pumping rounds into you...your guns will be useless. |
I think the word you were looking for is "Martyr", but in any case even dying as a martyr doesn't mean you will go "straight" to heaven. And you don't get to kill people and call it jihad thinking that will guarantee you a place in heaven... |
How do you know? Is this a.thought experiment? YES WED LIKE TO be equipped to defend ourselves at dinner. Thanks forthe horrifying I.age and cavalier. Phrasing |
I want to add this is a real threat were living. We are mourning people in the marine family today. Your phrasing is disgusting. |

He never dated, the friend said. In a statement, his family said Abdulazeez’s mental illness had contributed to the crime. “For many years, our son suffered from depression. It grieves us beyond belief to know that his pain found its expression in this heinous act of violence,” the statement said. Abdulazeez had been in and out of treatment for his depression and frequently stopped taking his medication, despite his parents’ pleas for him to continue, said a person close to the family." Gun restrictions CAUSED this massacre you idiot!! |
I read early on that his own father discouraged/stopped him from a promising kickboxing type hobby. Does anyone know more about this or why he would do that? It seems to go against all advice I've ever heard with a long-term depressed young person. You are supposed to encourage sport and social activities I would think. |
sounds like the "typical" shooter mass-muirderer of our times - a disaffected young man with mental heath issues and easy legal access to guns.
when will our country finally pass sensible gun laws? who has to die to make guns harder to get??? |
Or provide mental health support. What was happening in that end if his family knew he had long term depression? They were middle class, have some resources. |
More about the mental health state of Abdulazeez:
http://abcnews.go.com/US/chattanooga-shooting-fbi-recovers-gunmans-disturbing-diary/story?id=32558310 "With more than 30 FBI agents due to arrive today in Chattanooga, a diary belonging to the gunman and FBI interviews with his parents paint a picture of a disturbed, suicidal young man using drugs, preparing for bankruptcy and facing an appearance in criminal court, according to a representative of the shooter’ s family. "Four days after the shooting, the FBI has not found any connection to overseas terrorist groups, but Mohammod Abdulazeez's diary says that as far back as 2013, he wrote about having suicidal thoughts and "becoming a martyr" after losing his job due to his drug use, both prescription and non-prescription drugs, the family representative said." And for the poster above asking whether the family was doing anything about it: "The family representative said Abdulazeez's family sought, without success, to get him treatment for his mental illness, and to keep him away from a group of friends with whom he would drink and smoke marijuana." |
