Unfortunately, the more I read these reports, the more it seems like this is a case of someone who was suffering from mental illness and lots of other emotional issues, sad all around! |
When will the president make a statement? When will he commiserate with these families? Can he picture his son in the military or police, and commiserate with the families of the fallen? |
+1000. He is completely MIA on this one, even though it's another Fort Hood or possibly a Boston (disclaimer: a motive hasn't been established yet, but it's looking like mostly drugs, mental deterioration, looming bankruptcy - and due to the choice of targets: possibly sympathies for terrorists). |
I wonder if he was trying to self medicate for bi-polarism or what have you? I will like to hear more what this family did. Taking him away from friends and activities is not necessarily the best tack if they could not find a substitute. |
While the kid seems to have been an all-Amercan boy, his parents are immigrants who probably have a very different cultural outlook; it would not be surprising if they viewed separation as a legitimate form of intervention if their son was hanging out with the wrong people. Frankly, separation does not seem unreasonable to me. If anything, it shows a level of caring on his parents part. But getting back to the main issue: why did he select the two military-related sites as his targets? Anyone have the latest on the investigation? |
Yes, he had a diary where he wrote how unhappy he was with the US "war on terror"/war on Muslims - which would probably be why he chose military targets. |
The President won't even fly the White House flag at half-mast, even though he did so after Boston. Goes to show you how much contempt he has for our folks in uniform. |
"Abdulazeez had several friends at the gym, but one in particular, a former Chattanooga police officer, would constantly exhort militant Islamic views and threatened anyone who bad-mouthed the faith, Schrader said. The man was the one who introduced Abdulazeez to the Fight Factory and became the young fighter's closest mentor, he said.
In 2010, Schrader drove Abdulazeez more than 100 miles south to compete in the North American Grappling Championships in Atlanta. Grappling is a wrestling-like form of martial arts that doesn't allow striking an opponent. Abdulazeez won a silver medal in his division at the tournament. "He was a good grappler, a good wrestler," Schrader said. "He was a good, respectful kid. I never had a problem out of him." A few months after the tournament, Abdulazeez competed in a mixed martial arts fight. After the fight, his father, who was waiting for him outside the ring, berated him loudly for taking part in the sport, Schrader said. "He was really furious," he said. Abdulazeez worked out at the gym a few more times after the incident, but showed up less and less and finally stopped coming altogether. A 2009 caged-in fight between him and fighter Timmy Hall posted on YouTube shows Abdulazeez taking down his opponent and landing several blows, before the two-minute video ends." On the one hand it sounds like sport was bad for him; on the other hand good. I'd like all of this dug into. |
I'm beginning to think he can't envision any child of his on the flip side--serving in uniform, military or police. Would that just not occur to him, that his theoretical son could go that route too? I do fail to see why he can't see his daughter's face in Ms. Steinle enjoying an outing on the SF pier. A statement and gesture for both incidents is needed, given the precedence he himself created. |
Maybe he was depressed. Maybe he was feeling pressure at home. Maybe he had low self-worth. Who knows.
There are millions of depressed people and people feeling pressure and worthless. They don’t go to a recruitment center and take out 5 people. The guy is a terrorist. His recent writings and statements verify that. He was looking to be a martyr. But, he is really a coward. |
They may not go to recruitment centers, but they do go to schools and movie theaters. But, being white, they aren't called terrorists. |
Remember the president is anti American. Then it all falls into place, no more mystified confusion. |
And, yet, Dylan Roof has been called a domestic terrorist. The more we find out about Abdulazeez, the more we find that he was identifying with and inspired by Muslim terrorists. Why white-wash it? |
I'm tired of the word terrorism being thrown around to describe every Tom, Dick and Harry. This guy was mentally ill.
Its easier to blah blah blah on about terrorism when the really conversation needs to be about mental health services and easy access to guns. |
Actually, you are 180 degrees wrong. There has been nothing to suggest that he was inspired by Muslim terrorists. To the contrary, the more we find out about him the more he appears to have been suffering from mental illness. |
