After you had first posted I discovered that my dad had a sister who was born with anencephaly in 1933. My grandmother was a nurse and after having her child with anencephaly she went back to school to study prenatal care. She wasn't ever a happy woman and she never recovered from the loss. My grandmother was so bitter and angry and would tell her surviving children that God had taken the wrong child. She had often spoken of her beautiful, perfect, daughter who had died suddenly at 4 days of age and she was always referred to by name. The reality was that she was never officially named and that she lived less than ten minutes. Her birth certificate and her plot just say "Baby". When I had made this discovery I had your story fresh in my mind and I was able to share it with my dad and his surviving sibling. They had a much better understand of their mother and wished they had known the truth earlier. My uncle passed away having let go of the anger. Thank you. |
Totally randomly the thought popped into my head of the young woman who couldn't sit through a multi-hour meeting at work without stepping out to go pee. She carried her big water bottle with her everywhere because she had to "stay hydrated," you know. A bunch of people told her to grow up, essentially. |

The poster who trained her inner thought to sound like Morgan Freeman.

People who write "link?" and nothing else annoy me. But I was able to find it: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/338366.page I had forgotten the details. |
The woman having an affair with the tennis balls. Now I am too. |
I sing karaoke (gay bars mostly)... I have actually walked up to a guy during the instrumental portion and asked, over the mic "dude, you really need to start washing your hands when you pee." In a population that has a disproportionate number of members with immuno issues, I have no qualms about bringing that subject up. Folks, wash your hands everytime you use the restroom. it saves peoples' lives |
Following suggestions from the CPS staff and the officers that visited us I stopped talking about it in front of DD and took her to be seen by the sex abuse clinic inside children's hospital. They checked her out physically and did play therapy to try to get some information from her. They concluded that the abuse indeed happened and her school is under investigation since she mentioned it happened in school. Thanks to the posters who showed support and shared important information. If it was not for the lady who mentioned a phone number to call I'd never know what to do. |
I do NOT have a mail order bride! |

WOW! Glad you got the ball rolling for your daughter's sake. |
Hard to post light hearted ones after LIVID and child molestation, but I'd really be interested in the nanny's kid gets into GDS (and the fate of the boss's kid, too, for that matter). |
Hi PP, I too have thought of you. I did an "I work on a pediatric psych unit' AMA awhile back and I think you posted about your experience a few times on that thread. Congrats on the sledding achievement! I am wondering more out of curiosity than anything if you have tried any stimulation treatments for your son's illness. Due to his age, I was thinking non invasive - rTMS. I have seen some studies showing good responses with few side effects but I haven't met many parents who have actually tried it. Just wondering if it was something you had looked into at all as a treatment option? |
wow - wish i could somehow help you. Is there anything this community could do?. thx for everything you have done. sorry for weird note. nursing one handed. |
I see this pretty often with threads about my kids' school -- someone will raise even the slightest criticism and this sets off a flurry of posts defending the school, often with very similar phrasing. I figure these are just parents who drank the Kool-Aid. |
