Posters who cross your mind every once in awhile

I'll never forget the woman whose Mother revealed to her that she was also her sister -- OP knew that Mom had been a teenage parent but didn't know that it resulted from incest. Man, that whole thread was haunting.

LIVID is the one I think about. She really made some changes in this world, and I thank her for them.

who?

Search the forums for LIVID and you should find one or more of her threads. IIRC she was a federal employee who was pregnant and received a diagnosis of anencephaly. The Hyde Amendment prevented her from getting the very necessary termination of her pregnancy covered by insurance, and her abortion, which was necessary not only to spare a horribly painful existence for her fetus, but also to preserve her own health and future futility, cost tens of thousands of dollars.

There were several of us. That was such a fun thread!

Very fun -- even my DH and kids got into it.

Occasionally, when I see a car with a Holton sticker and one from an Ivy, I wonder if the driver could be Holton Mom, whose DD was rejected by NCS, but went on to graduate in a blaze of academic and ahtletic glory from Holton and matriculated at an unnamed Ivy. Ah . . .but was it a top Ivy, Holton Mom? Sadly, we may nevery know.

Oh my. I remember Holton Mom although I've tried to put her out of my mind.

In a way, I actually like Holton Mom -- there's no hidden agenda with her and she's -- justifiably it seems -- proud of her DD. I just wish for her sake she'd get that NCS rejection chip off her shoulder. Living well is the best revenge, Holton Mom.

How long ago was this? Is there a link?

She has to be horrible. I really lost my patience with her after she basically convinced her 3 year old daughter she had been sexually molested when, based on her account of the whole thing, there was NOTHING to suggest that happened. Based on what she has written about her kids' behavior she's a drama queen who is raising her kids to be ill behaved drama queens too.

Does anyone remember the mom with the son who has been hospitalized multiple times for hurting himself, threatening to hurt himself, etc? I believe there was also a dad with two daughters, one of which had some problems and had to be kept away from her sister. Anyways, I think about these posters and wonder how they are and how things are going for them.

Are there any specific posters who you think about from time to time and wonder how they are doing?

Hi OP. That's me! (The lady with the mentally ill son.) It's so sweet that some of you think about me. We are hanging in there. DS is not currently suicidal but very depressed, and that is hard to watch. He hasn't been battling me too much to go to school lately, but when he is there, the minute someone looks at him the wrong way he goes back to his homeroom and sits in his cubicle for the rest of the day and does absolutely no schoolwork. I'm not sure how he's going to pass sixth grade if he keeps this up. He's so darn smart so it's really a shame.

The last time it snowed I convinced him to go sledding with me up at the local high school. Usually he loses his mind when he puts all of his snow gear on because of how it feels, but he held it together and we managed to go down the hill several times. That was a HUGE accomplishment for him. I look forward to taking him again this snowstorm. His docs say the more I can get him to do "normal" kid stuff, the better. So I keep trying but it often ends in disaster.

Again, thank you for thinking of me!

Does he do cognitive behavioral therapy? If not, it can be SO helpful. I love that he went sledding!!!!

Can we do that thread again?

It's fine with me! I'm ready. ::rubs hands together::

Was that poster a psychic?

I also think about LIVID, appreciate what she was willing to do and hope she and her DH are doing well.

The thread was from the summer of 2010 -- here is a link:

I wonder sometimes what happend to the poster whose adult sibling had committed a really awful crime, and her parents were falling apart. We had something similar happen last year -- BIL was involved in an OWI in which several people were badly injured, including himself -- and I swear it has added 10 years to MIL's life. I know obviously that is not the most important aspect, but still...it is heartbreaking to watch her obsess and second-guess her own parenting, when the other two siblings turned out so well.

It seems to me that this mom has done anything and everything possible for him. She seems really, really, awesome and willing to do whatever it takes to help him.

I do remember Holton Mom with the DD who was rejected by NCS and is now doing great, and I feel happy for her. My own question about those many Holton-boosting posts was different, though. I always wondered how many were from a real person, like Holton Mom, and how many were actually from a for-hire social media company. There was something so generic and pollyannish about many of those Holton posts. I'm sure there's no way to answer this question, though.

Speaking of posters with toilet issues, I remember the poster who accidentally made rude noises in the stall next to her boss. Did that poster ever get a promotion? I hope so!

I think it was in Relationship - woman was pregnant with a married lawyer's baby and he was only corresponding with her through emails and didn't want anything to do with the kid. Wonder how she is and the douchebag as well.

I think about the woman who found a note from another woman in her husband's drawer. If you're reading this, sending you hugs and hope you're OK.
