Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Now 400+ hours, multiple community meetings, 2 lawsuits, 2 multi-coach letters, 1 all-hands coaches meeting at Gatehouse, cops called on press, 7 Board member letters, 3 superintendent letters, VHSL sanction on 2 counts plus 2 appeals that upheld sanctions, judge injunction lifted, Dec 4 coming up and thanks to Reid and School Board, Chad Richardo could just run his same news update that he did from 6 months ago:

Hopefully Mr. Ricardo will have an instagram post update soon. He likes to focus on the positive in sports which is nice, but this scandal keeps growing and getting stranger by the day.

Are you his publicist? He literally published false information he was fed by Overton and never issued a retraction. He is a terrible journalist.

The first email just drew attention to something I was not even aware was a problem. Can we get a superintendent that focuses on real issues? She should expect everyone in the chain of command to follow the rules, and when they don't, quickly fix it. Why is she bending over backward to cover for a football team?

Because she thinks a progressive White woman needs to be an "ally" of a Black principal and coach when they are accused of wrongdoing. She obviously isn't interested in a level playing field among FCPS high schools or high standards of integrity.
And Reid is still working the “real issues”. If you are on the north side of county, expect to be re-districted soon. You have had an unfair advantage in case no one told you. And if you paid up to get into a “top” pyramid when you bought your house, well that’s just too bad. But, don’t expect any drop in your real estate taxes when this happens.

Just join a no cut sport at school want to attend as that seems path Reid wants to do- if can change schools for a specific academic class, should be able to do so for athletics. Would save some money as boundary study worthless as people will just go wherever they want. But mom, I don’t run track. Oh, just join first week and then you can drop it.

Someone posted Reid fully aware of text messages from Nov 19. So the consequence of those texts is to say yes to his leave of absence where he will retain all benefits and years applied to pension? And no action for Principal or asst superintendent or coach or Reid herself? Instead, sending message after message of how we ALL feel as frustrated for and with the Hayfield football players. Leveling racism charges against other FCPS coaches. Calling cops on press. Requiring FOIA request to get Hayfield game scores. Blinders on if anyone still believe the security head and Dir of Student Services just happened to change schools.

100%

Overton and his crew didn’t do their research on the likes of Asra Q. Nomani (not all that surprising). Once she got involved the smart bettors knew this was going to be a death by 1000 cuts type situation. She’s likely sitting on a mountain of evidence and just slowly going to let it drip out.

Yep. I disagree with her politics but she is a great journalist. She's like a dog with a bone.

She’s diligent and uncovers stuff that others wouldn’t look for or find. She isn’t always accurate - for example, she suggested the Herndon FB coach recently resigned over FCPS’s handling of the Hayfield situation and he completely disavowed her claim.

The Herndon coach was recruiting. I know that for a fact.

All this slandering of other programs and coaches with NO PROOF is pathetic.

Exactly - my kid went to preschool with most of those players. They've lived there their whole lives.

My kids have been knowing them since preschool as well and there are some kids who haven’t lived in the zone that long.

I know for a fact the Herndon football coach was recruiting and trying to sway a kid with private school opportunities, but lived in the zone into attending Herndon.

They do it for basketball too, as there is a sophomore playing for Herndon whose home address is zoned for a different school. He was persuaded by the basketball coach to attend Herndon.

I'm not sure this is the type of "recruiting" that violates the rules. The student was already slated to attend Herndon as he lived in the Herndon district. The coach seemed to be simply asking him to stay to and play there as opposed to attend the private school. In fact, it really isn't recruiting. The kid was going there anyway if he didn't decide to attend a private high school.

Recruiting is recruiting, he wasn’t going anyway, and probably won’t be back next year.

Seems the VHSL is selective as to who the enforce these rules against.

You can’t “recruit” someone that is already at the school. Don’t propose something so preposterous. You come across as foolish.

She doesn’t care about that. She can just do what the rest of the white supremacists do and deny. Pretend their isn’t any racism any longer.

Updated timeline of the Hayfraud parents and coaches response to this mess:

1. First it was "We didn't cheat"
2. Then it pivoted to "Everyone who says we cheat is a racist"
3. Now it is "Sure we cheated, but good luck proving it" (as of 8AM this morning)
4. And now they have finally got to the last refuge of a cheater...claiming that everyone else is doing it.

There are lots of areas where enforcement efforts aren't wasted on the small stuff.

Reid is just the sort of idiot who will try to blow up everything in FCPS just to prove a point - when Hayfield properly should have been called out earlier because of the scope and scale of the violations there.
