Hayfield Football Coach Fired

This is what half of these posts are really about, under the guise of caring about HS football. 🙄

Really hoping the playoff team coaches/parents do the right thing and opt out of this nonsense. Hate that it falls to them but somebody has to stand up.

She's hoping that gruel she fed everyone last night - and then this email tonight - will fool everyone.

Someone has to take a stand for the righteous path.

Reid needs to be removed by the Board for this fiasco. With regional reps, all we need is the local schools to put the pressure on their local FCPS rep. The message is simple. Remove Reid, if not resign your seat or face a recall. The football games give a great venue to start collecting signatures for recall petitions for board members. As VA has funny recall laws, the petition should accuse the specific board member of neglect of duty to protect the student athlete and follow rules and incompetence for re-upping Reid recently. 10% of those who voted in the last school board election for that seat are needed to sign.

+1. Reid threw 6 of her own high school football coaches under the bus.
WTOP has just reported it and Reid sent out a VERY biased email on her position tonight.

+1. It’s a horrible letter that ignores vhsl’s objections (they weren’t eligibility!) and cares not one whit about other FCPS kids and staff who expressed their frustration at FCPS supporting rule breaking. Vhsl makes the rules. FCPS should follow them.

They behind her. Just gave her a raise. Dunne is your best bet.

This. Can the booster clubs at the FFx HS contact each other and coordinate? Even if it can’t get done for games this week, I would beat that they could coordinate and get someone to draw up petitions for boosters to shop at future FCPS sporting events if the board members haven’t acted. At the very least, a new board and supe by next season will ensure that Overton’s cheating is gone from the county.

Sorry guys, appreciate the idea - but these folks don't give two whits about signatures on a page and most of the current outrage will dissipate by next election. In fact, they're counting on that.

More significant and (importantly) immediate disruption is needed - boycotted games, no spectators showing up, more local/national news coverage etc.

Anonymous wrote:So when is Reid putting out her next unfaltering support for Hayfield press statement or is she just going to show it on the field by wearing a #Hayfieldby40 tshirt tomorrow might?

I read it, and by its content, would rather have had her be on the field and wear the tshirt. Less offensive

I was incredibly offended by her email and I'm just a random parent of middle schoolers casually following the story.

Did they post it on the FCPS facebook page open for comments? Or are they too cowardly.

I don't have time to read 186 pages, but it seems obvious that a team should not be allowed to flout the recruiting rules and still compete in playoffs. Is that the general consensus on DCUM, or are there genuine arguments to justify what Hayfield did?
Hoping that someone can catch me up on the facts without all the emotion that I am seeing in the last few pages.

The general consensus among reasonable adults is that Hayfield should not be allowed to participate. There are a handful of Hayfield parents--identifiable mostly via their poor grammar and syntax--who disagree.

While I appreciate the description provided, I would add there is an additional group not directly associated with Hayfield that generally feels there is nothing wrong with recruiting and bringing in 20+ transfers to any school and that it has been happening ‘everywhere else’ for decades.

It’s definitely been happening. It’s happened at other schools that are currently in the Virginia playoffs. Rarely does a coach need to bring em all in during the same year though, but thats because the coaches are already at the school.

Again, my point exactly! Haha, and “rarely does a coach need to bring em all in the same year”!! Do you want to rephrase that to “though a coach has never done that many in one year…”?

Won’t say it’s never been done in one year because there is another school that’s undefeated that just got a bunch of transfers this year and that school is also one of the favorites to win their division.

Not going to name the school just yet, but they are also in Northern Virginia. Probably wasn’t as many new football players as Hayfield, but there was a bunch.

Oh please. Prove it. The rosters are public. Show us all the players and where they played last year.

Tons of allegations against other schools in this thread and no one ever has a shred of evidence. Meanwhile everyone can see all the Hayfield transfers from all over the place.

Not gonna name them so you can try to f up some more kids season. I haven’t seen the school in talking about mentioned though.

Translation: I am the parent of a Hayfield transfer so all I know how to do is lie, and when backed into a corner, I don't know how to respond.

I find it very frustrating that there is no way to provide feedback as a parent on this situation to FCPS's handling of it.

Just stop. I am a democrat and I believe in rules and fair play. It is shocking that FCPS has completely ignored wrongdoing found by the governing body. Claiming “misinformation” without providing information is weak. Refusing to release the internal investigation in the foia request is wrong.

She likes to send out very long emails that don't say much but I hadn't realized how disingenuous they are until this one. I'm going to have trouble believing anything she says from here on.
