You're being way too kind. She is in the bag for these Hayfield cheats. Guess she likes getting on her knees for Overton as much as all the Freefield dads.

This is what half of these posts are really about, under the guise of caring about HS football. 🙄

Just stop. I am a democrat and I believe in rules and fair play. It is shocking that FCPS has completely ignored wrongdoing found by the governing body. Claiming “misinformation” without providing information is weak. Refusing to release the internal investigation in the foia request is wrong.

Agree, and I had no opinion on Reid either way until this story came along and she had that parent meeting at Hayfield where she basically told them to eff off.

Write the school board - individually. Focus on your member and the at large members. And write chairman McKay. He doesn’t have direct jurisdiction but he should know residents are unhappy especially as the schools are getting ready to make a budget request.

As a parent, you can contact your school board member and the at-large members. You can email Reid directly. You can also speak to/email your school principal and let them know how parents are feeling about this.

I have done that in the past, during the pandemic when they were trying to figure out how to open the schools, and some are responsive.

She likes to send out very long emails that don't say much but I hadn't realized how disingenuous they are until this one. I'm going to have trouble believing anything she says from here on.

I have followed this story very closely as the parent of an FCPS HS football player and feel well-versed in the facts of the case. Given all the one-sided information, misleading information and outright misinformation in that email...it makes me wonder what else she has been dishonest about. Why is she talking about eligibility and not Proselytizing and sportsmanship? Why is she pretending that everyone agrees with her? Every parent I talk to is shocked and appalled that FCPS basically fought against VHSL.

The HS students are all over this story and following every event. My daughter wanted to write an article for the school paper and the journalism teacher said yes and the principal got wind of it and shut it down, said it was too controversil..

Buried in literally the next district wide email:

"School Board Extends Superintendent’s Contract
The Fairfax County School Board unanimously voted to extend the contract of Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid through June 2028. Read more about this decision."

Is it on Facebook? I don't have Facebook.

Oh my. Right in the middle on the controversy, they all affirm that they think she is doing a good job? That is wild.

I can't see why. Nobody is doing that here when someone brings up legitimate concerns.

Seriously? Maybe read some of the comment from the Hayfield parents.

Yes, the school board rushed last week to extend her contract early. Right as this was really starting to blow up.

A bit eyebrow-raising, by our school board.

Why should anyone follow it closely? HS sports are irrelevant.

And yet you took the time to comment...

Yes, we are certain you are loyal Dem, and will pull the D lever for your next SB election, like you have for every other. Just don’t expect any change in Gatehouse. So really, you are the one that needs to stop, and reevaluate your thinking.

It’s their insurance policy for continuity in case they are all voted out when the boundary review goes awry.

I don't have time to read 186 pages, but it seems obvious that a team should not be allowed to flout the recruiting rules and still compete in playoffs. Is that the general consensus on DCUM, or are there genuine arguments to justify what Hayfield did?
Hoping that someone can catch me up on the facts without all the emotion that I am seeing in the last few pages.

The general consensus among reasonable adults is that Hayfield should not be allowed to participate. There are a handful of Hayfield parents--identifiable mostly via their poor grammar and syntax--who disagree.

I am not a Hayfield parent but I also do not think Hayfield shouldn't be allowed to play. I also don't feel strongly that they should be allowed to. I think whatever the Judge decides is what it should be. I will wait for Dec. 4.

If that is truly how you feel, how did you find this thread? Why would you be here?

I'm on the FCPS forum and it's the top or 2nd thread. That's how.

Teams playing Freedomfield should forfeit. Freedomfield players and the coaches need these games to promote themselves.

They want to create highlight reels and achieve gross margins of victory for the statistics that will ultimately get sent to college recruiters.

Every team should refuse to play Freedomfield until Overton and his coaching staff is removed. This would neuter the program. If other programs did that as well, it would end Freedomfield ambitions in a season.
