I’m on the fence, I get it, you’re taking an ethical and moral stand here

On the other hand, you play you lose you lose what if you play hayfield and you win

I rather think the southeast VA schools will take hayfield to school in the larger bracket that’s just my thinking

I will say again that if all the games were played this week and hayfield lost the dec 4 hearing won’t happen

If they win it will still happen but it could still end with them continuing to play.

When is the state final, I thought it was always first week of December but now it’ll be a week later because of this round happening a week later correct

So I guess my thought is this. Get to the 12/4 hearing and hayfield has what 1 maybe 2 more games…does anyone really think the court says no no no you can’t play seems unlikely to be honest.

Anyway this is all very entertaining, I guess I’m at the point where I’m a bit more just play the damn games already and settle this stuff on the field. You don’t think those other seven teams and coaches and the down south schools won’t go for blood. I know they will maybe they lose but I don’t think anyone is looking at their team and saying be scared, I’m think they’re all telling their team if we play them they hurt us the first time now let’s go kick their ass, shut them up, and send them packing. Then for your basketball and other sport players when you hit the fields or the mat the track the court you play hayfield this year and you bring the hurt as payback. You let those other hayfield athletes know it’s not personal but it’s about sending a message to the people in charge about what’s right and what’s wrong.

I was already to clap at this until this. Let's hurt those Hayfield lacrosse girls because of what the boys did in football sounds ridiculous and like a child. But I support everything else you're saying.

They play in the weakest district by far. Not even close. In other sports they steamroll until the playoffs and then get absolutely smacked. Happens every year, every sport, and this is the first year it won’t happen to their football team.

A legit smackdown is fine. I was talking about the poster suggesting to take their anger towards Hayfield football on other Hayfield sport teams including female ones. It is crazy for an adult to say.

I do think other coaches of other sports will absolutely keep the foot on the gas vs them, and they should. Keep shooting three’s up 25. Keep stealing bases.

I can't imagine the coach I know whose team will play Hayfield in spring would condone that sort of unsportsmanlike conduct. He has integrity and cares about developing good people through sports. I hope all of the rest of Hayfield's opponents do too.

Do you want your daughter punished because of the actions of a bunch of males who have nothing to do with her? That's insane.

Playing hard is one thing. Stealing bases when you're up by 15 and not bringing in that 3rd string pitcher who normally doesn't get game innings is dumb for the development of your team (not that this would happen when playing against Hayfield diamond sports teams, both of which are strong programs).

Says the supporter of a school with the slogan “Hayfield by 40” Priceless stuff here.

Strawman argument right here. It is not THE SCHOOL'S slogan. It is Overton and his coaches, who adopted it for his football program. Until he "graced" the school with his presence I had never heard it with any other sports program. I still haven't heard it used by any Fall sport other than the football team.

He had the same slogan at Freedom. This is not new.

Who is Strawman?

Oh my god. The ignorance.

Is that the general consensus on DCUM, or are there genuine arguments to justify what Hayfield did?
Hoping that someone can catch me up on the facts without all the emotion that I am seeing in the last few pages.

The general consensus among reasonable adults is that Hayfield should not be allowed to participate. There are a handful of Hayfield parents--identifiable mostly via their poor grammar and syntax--who disagree.

While I appreciate the description provided, I would add there is an additional group not directly associated with Hayfield that generally feels there is nothing wrong with recruiting and bringing in 20+ transfers to any school and that it has been happening ‘everywhere else’ for decades.

It’s definitely been happening. It’s happened at other schools that are currently in the Virginia playoffs. Rarely does a coach need to bring em all in during the same year though, but thats because the coaches are already at the school.

F- the strawman. What is new is Overton brought his “techniques” to FFx cty after being booted from PW Cty. And Hayfield has adopted it in mass. Their Admin approves of the recruiting and the slogan. They own it, and it applies to every sport, b/c Overton is now the “face” of Hayfield. So yes, payback for “+40” is justified in every sport, for a very long time.

Again, my point exactly! Haha, and “rarely does a coach need to bring em all in the same year”!! Do you want to rephrase that to “though a coach has never done that many in one year…”?

If you don't know 757, then you don't know VA high school football. Area code for the Tidewater and repped by real D-1 athletes.

VHSL is the problem. Spell out the rules and regulations in plain English.

Stop relying on vague language that the good ole' boy network exploiting used to their advantage based on their discretion.

What the heck is proselytizing???? No judge or court can prove or disprove that!

Interesting article of timeline of Overton Hiring.

- new athletic director hired July 2023
- football coach who had just won the district fired in mid-November
- athletic director “hears Overton is unhappy” and talks to him to gauge his interest after Freedom wins state final but before opening the position up to the public
- so hayfield sits on opening position until after speaking with Overton
- interviews in January 2024 with Overton and three others
- Hired in early February 2024
- the start of 20+ transfers start entering Hayfield by April 2024 for non-athletic reasons (sarcasm intended)

Oh my god, the "logic" of an Overton supporter. They're not 3-7 because they cheated and the comically ignorant adults leading this fiasco over at Hayfield are simultaneously trying to cover up and yet also oddly justify the cheating. That is why we "stay mad." That you need this explained to you is absolutely pathetic.

Feeble cucks mocking sports they know nothing about. This is what the Hayfield lot has sunk to. I guess it is one way to deflect from their obvious cheating.

Won’t say it’s never been done in one year because there is another school that’s undefeated that just got a bunch of transfers this year and that school is also one of the favorites to win their division.

Not going to name the school just yet, but they are also in Northern Virginia. Probably wasn’t as many new football players as Hayfield, but there was a bunch.

Oh please. Prove it. The rosters are public. Show us all the players and where they played last year.

Tons of allegations against other schools in this thread and no one ever has a shred of evidence. Meanwhile everyone can see all the Hayfield transfers from all over the place.

Maybe the lacrosse players should MAN UP and put on some shoulder pads and a helmet. Then your football team won't finish with a 3-7 record and sob crocodile tears how they are being cheated out of a playoff spot. Ha ha!

Serious question...are you 12?
