I called, too - $1250 for one person. Ridiculous.
oh, I just read the comments...they're pretty ridiculous. Considering the federal government is downsizing, there are furloughs, and younger people are fleeing federal service, their assumptions are largely false (shocking, for the WSJ). DC itself (not the burbs, which the article lumps in) is growing - more people want to live in DC, more young families are staying in DC when they have kids - is another reason for the high property value. It's fantastic in my opinion (and not just because I own property in DC!)
One thing DC has that SF and NYC don't is a largely young and transient population - people come for 2-4 years, and leave...so there is a large turn over yet our property values are rarely effected. Similarly, in the 'burbs with the political appointees and military populations coming and going.
We are also a city with VERY educated young people who carry considerable amounts of student debt making it difficult for them to qualify for a mortgage, so rents stay ridiculously high.
It's a market that's difficult to compare to SF and NYC in my opinion, which isn't worth much!
my beta was 39, I think? it was in the 30s.

I'm 18+ weeks pregnant now.

what matters is the doubling time. While I personally believe it's good to be cautious and have realistic expectations, your first beta means only as much as the doubling time.

I hope you get your answer soon and I'm wishing you the best!
YAY for more October moms!
I'd be interested if everyone had used it, too - I live in Logan and would be interested in joining for this summer if it's quality
Welcome!

I'll grab a table at the DuPont LPQ tomorrow around 1030 and have them know if someone asks for the October moms table, that's me!
Miss Shirley's is SO good. We went there before visiting friends...my husband still talks about how good his french toast was!

I'd love to go back. It was fantastic. I had the chicken and waffles - they were fabulous.

Really?! So, it's not all fat?! I've gained weight since starting IVF, so I'm SUPER self conscious about this, but it's not as squishy as fat...after losing 75lbs, I didn't miss the squish. So it's fair to say part of it's fat, part of it is everything shifting for baby?

I keep saying to myself how I can't wait for the fat part and the baby part to meet!
Sure, 11:30 - join us!

Thanks for setting up a FB/list/whichever type of thing...that'll be really great
I've been doing Yoga District and Tranquil Space - not convenient to silver spring. But I like both. Yoga District is more community-ish feeling, though.

I'm all set for Monday - we said 11?

We're looking at a new ford focus. Prius is out of budget, and the upkeep is out of our price range. We are also refinancing our condo, so we're trying to see what we save on that per month to factor in the car expense. We have a good mortgage rate, but since we're going to move in about 2 years, we're moving to a 5 year ARM at a really low rate.

I also really want a massage sometime soon...sigh...but I should wait to make sure the Dr says it's ok, and that's not until 4 June, sadly.
LJ - same here with the eating at night! I go home and just want cereal. it's ridiculous. My poor husband hasn't had a nice homecooked meal in a long time....sigh...

tuesdays I pick up Homemade Pizza on my way home from yoga but try to make it healthy with whole wheat crust. And I eat two slices. PS: what's a green veggie? I was all, "i'm going to have green smoothies every morning!" then I threw one green smoothie up and that was that. lovely.
Poppy - where do you live (re yoga)? I've been using two studios and can try to recommend.

I have yoga tonight, which is good because my lower back is KILLING me. I think I slept funny last night - I'm REALLY trying toget used to the whole left side thing. I'm a tummy sleeper, and that's really not working anymore for the most part.

We also made an executive decision to nix the summer 'babymoon'/vacation. We don't want to deal with spending the money - we really need to buy a new car since ours is NOT safe enough for baby (it's fine for us, but there's no new safety features like side air bags and all that). Plus, it's just not comfortable any more and rides loudly.

I've also not really been eating much - I got sick a few times, so I'm trying to graze through the day. I'm sure it's not ideal, but I don't know how to find the energy to cook dinner. I don't see how people have the energy to have more than 1 child!
I'm due in October, don't know with a boy or a girl, but this issue worries me a lot.

I'm overweight, had tremendous success on Weight Watchers and it really did help me tune my (very overweight) mother out. I'll post that we went to Shake Shack and how great it was..."did you need that?" is how she responds. Does it matter? I don't eat it every day. It was easy to shut her down while I was on WW because I was kicking butt on it - lost almost 75lbs, looked and felt fabulous. I've gained a lot back since starting IVF and becoming pregnant - I gain fast if I don't work out a lot hard all the time.

I want to show my potential future daughter that what we value is a love of activity and food for nourishment - I love to cook and love food, so hope to keep my kid (whichever sex I end up with) involved in cooking and all that. Take them to farmers markets.

But if anyone has any book recommendations on how to keep your food/weight issues off your daughter, I'd love to know. I know my mom's issues stem from her mother, and I know I'm fat partly because of my own mother's issues. I started WW saying, "I want it to end with me" but it's not always that easy.

and OP, if I gained 8lbs, I'd be THRILLED and would be shouting it from the roof tops! Now I just don't look at the scale
I've been way more sick in my 2nd tri than first - this is my first pregnancy, so I (perhaps stupidly?) thought I'd feel better.

i've read that the throwing up (because I actually get sick, not just nausea) is related to the same reasons we get heartburn. Not sure how true that is (I plan on asking Dr when I go next).

I hope it gets better for you soon, OP!
