October Due Dates: Please Join us!

Hi, all,

How are folks doing? Just writing with a quick update to say that I've apparently popped--the first coworker I told mentioned it today. Good timing, since I told my boss last week and am telling my work team today. We also ran into one of my daughter's daycare teachers at Target yesterday and she flat-out asked me if I was pregnant! I told my husband and he was like, well, most people wouldn't have dared to ask. I think she's the only person who's asked me point-blank in this pregnancy or my first. She was careful to phrase it as, I saw you have a little belly, but not like you're chubby, just like you might be pregnant. I guess she's seen her fair share of us. One of the other moms there is due any day with her second, and I told her at drop-off one morning.

LJ, I missed your latest update last week, how awful. I hope you had a relaxing weekend and will get the updated results soon. I think it took a week for my sequential screen/cell-free DNA tests to come back. The genetic counselor left me a loooong message with the results, and I got them in the mail a few days later. Sending you all the best.

I'm excited for Monday's meet up! I'll bump that thread up in a few days as a reminder, in case some missed it. November Interlopers, absolutely join us!

Still no movement here, darned anterior placenta. I'm also scoping out yoga studios to figure out where I want to start prenatal when my 10-class pass is up at my regular studio. Part of me wants to keep doing regular yoga as long as possible, but the community aspect of prenatal yoga really appeals to me. I'd love to join in Brookland, but probably need to find a place a bit closer to home.

Hope you're all well!

Poppy - where do you live (re yoga)? I've been using two studios and can try to recommend.

I have yoga tonight, which is good because my lower back is KILLING me. I think I slept funny last night - I'm REALLY trying toget used to the whole left side thing. I'm a tummy sleeper, and that's really not working anymore for the most part.

We also made an executive decision to nix the summer 'babymoon'/vacation. We don't want to deal with spending the money - we really need to buy a new car since ours is NOT safe enough for baby (it's fine for us, but there's no new safety features like side air bags and all that). Plus, it's just not comfortable any more and rides loudly.

I've also not really been eating much - I got sick a few times, so I'm trying to graze through the day. I'm sure it's not ideal, but I don't know how to find the energy to cook dinner. I don't see how people have the energy to have more than 1 child!

Thanks to those that have been so supportive. No news to report - unfortunately it seems like the labs are taking a lot longer to get back this time. I have tried to just move past it and not expend all of my energy on worrying. Still hoping for good news!

I wish I had gotten into yoga pre-pregnancy but never really did. I have only stuck with zumba.

I have been feeling a few flutters that I think are movement, but it is still very sporadic and hard to know 100% as movement. Ready for it to get more substantive!

JinDC I can echo almost everything you wrote! I am also a stomach sleeper and have not been fond of trying to sleep in other positions. It is tough.

My husband really wants us to go on a trip this summer but I am ambivalent because of cost (I will be taking off a substantial amount of time from work starting next month) and then just not knowing if I will feel like travelling or feel comfortable travelling.

I am also having the same problems eating - I am still down about 4 lbs from my pregnancy starting weight. I have had dreams the past few nights involving hunger - and then wake up pretty hungry. I have been having a hard time eating at night though.

Oh and this is LJ. Hope everyone is well.

LJ - same here with the eating at night! I go home and just want cereal. it's ridiculous. My poor husband hasn't had a nice homecooked meal in a long time....sigh...

tuesdays I pick up Homemade Pizza on my way home from yoga but try to make it healthy with whole wheat crust. And I eat two slices. PS: what's a green veggie? I was all, "i'm going to have green smoothies every morning!" then I threw one green smoothie up and that was that. lovely.

JinDC, we're in Silver Spring. I actually know of a few good studios not too far that have prenatal, am just trying to decide between them. Where have you been going?

I'm sorry to hear about the back pain--and your getting sick--ugh! I feel for the tummy sleepers, since that's just not an option past a certain point in pregnancy. My best friend was a tummy sleeper, and when she got pregnant (with twins, no less), it took a whole assortment of pillows to help her sleep. As for dinner, we did a *lot* of take-out during the first tri, when I felt really awful. Lots of beans and rice from Chipotle, veggie sushi was good, subs... it stinks. Graze as needed. Oh, and if we'd had the Vitamix during my first tri, I would have had a lot of smoothies for dinner.

Bummer about the babymoon! I remember your thread a while back trying to find a good place. But, yeah, I get the priorities thing. There are plenty of places you can compromise, but car safety isn't one of them (if you have a car). If you need any car recs, we adore our Prius--that thing hauls a ton.

I put our Monday brunch on my husband's radar yesterday (too far in advance and he doesn't remember), so am good to go here! Oh, and I think little Pip was reading my post from yesterday, because I felt faint but unmistakable movement this morning. Woo!

^^ Oops, posted before I saw you got sick off a green smoothie! :^( Disregard my whole "smoothies for dinner" thing.

LJ, I'm sorry you're not feeling well, too, and that the labs are taking so long to come back. Blergh.

I've been doing Yoga District and Tranquil Space - not convenient to silver spring. But I like both. Yoga District is more community-ish feeling, though.

I'm all set for Monday - we said 11?

We're looking at a new ford focus. Prius is out of budget, and the upkeep is out of our price range. We are also refinancing our condo, so we're trying to see what we save on that per month to factor in the car expense. We have a good mortgage rate, but since we're going to move in about 2 years, we're moving to a 5 year ARM at a really low rate.

I also really want a massage sometime soon...sigh...but I should wait to make sure the Dr says it's ok, and that's not until 4 June, sadly.

LJ here. The genetic counselor called today and said that the outside lab called her because my lab work did not have a date on it, so they could not run the report.

I am so beyond angry at the incompetency that has somehow affected every step of what should have been a simple screening.

Now I have to wait another day or two when I clearly would have got the results already if my lab work had been labelled with the date. Which seems like it should be a pretty hard thing to mess up.

I have loved Georgetown until now, but I am really annoyed at how much undue stress they have caused me over the past ten days.

Oh, LJ. I'm SO sorry to hear of the latest screw-up. What a mess they've made, and how unfair and lousy you have to deal with it all. If/when you're feeling up to it, perhaps a strongly worded letter to the head of Georgetown's OB department is in order. I mean, this is really outrageous.

JinDC, there used to be a Tranquil Space outpost in Bethesda, but I think they're no longer. The big ones near me are Willow Street and Circle Yoga, and there's a small studio really close to our house that I want to check out. I'm glad you've liked both!

Monday at 11 is perfect. Will bump up that thread tomorrow.

LJ - that is just awful! I can't even imagine. I'd be furious. I am so sorry . I agree with the letter - also, I had a problem with my last OB. I made some posts on social networking sites, and they fixed my issues immediately - never had they been more polite and efficient. let us know how it goes, i've been thinking about you.

Poppy, I think I'd like to join you on a Tuesday! not next week, but the week after?

Unfortunately my weekend has filled up and I can't make it on Monday. But hopefully I can meet you all at another get together?

I had an exciting OB appointment earlier this week. we finally have an uncomplicated pregnancy and ..... a little girl! so exciting! I have been loving the feeling of her swimming around in there, and last weekend we got the doppler out, apparently she hates it, she tried to kick or punch it or something, my whole stomach moved! i mean, my husband could SEE it. i knew that was supposed to happen, but I thought it wasn't till much later on.

anyways, i hope you are all doing well and getting better sleep. for those of you stomach sleepers, i'm there with you. what helps me is to put a small pillow in between my hip and the bed, so I can still face kind of side and down, without laying on my belly. not sure if that made sense.

good luck everyone, and LJ, I'll be thinking of you!

hi! (peanut here). I've been on work travel all week and haven't been able to check in. It's my first time traveling for work since I got pregnant and so far, it's going ok. I miss my husband like crazy though, which is weird because on my past trips, I usually don't miss him this much. Maybe it's the hormones?

Speaking of the get together, our out of town guests are at our house now (husband is entertaining while I'm gone), and they informed us that they'll be staying until Monday. So no get together for me after all =( But I'm hoping to definitely make the next one.
