My family has had a wonderful experience for the past two years with the Torah School at Adat Shalom, a Reconstructionist synagogue in Bethesda.
It is a very progressive community. There are a lot of trans-racial families (including our rabbi's family), parents with adopted children, and gay and lesbian parents.

Torah School classes are held on Saturdays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
