| I'd like to hang a swing from a tree limb that's too high for me to reach with a ladder. Any suggestions for whom to call to get help with this? And what material to use to extend the swing's chair to reach the tree limb? Thanks! |
| We had a tree company do it for us. They had us buy some kind of nautical rope - I think we bought the kind that can hold up 1000 pounds (obvious overkill - I think the tree company suggested something a bit lower than that). They also had us buy rubber hose to cover the rope where it wraps around the tree so as not to damage the tree. The tree company was Ed's Tree Service (they work in MD - not sure if they are licensed in DC and VA). |
| I watched my neighbor do this the other day. It was quite a show. He took a rubber bone and tied a light weight rope to it and threw it up over the branch. Took quite a while but after he got it over he was able to use it as a lead to tie the sturdier rope to it and then pull the swing up. |
This is exactly how to do it. Then after you have the rope you are going to use, tie a loop in the rope and and put the free end thru and pull it down, now you should have the rope in the tree and the free end hanging down to tie the swing to. |
