The problem is that on the internet there is too much conflicting data. Official sites do not support either way, give pros and cons and leave the decision up to us. I read a lot, still not sure..
Hello, we are expecting a boy and thinking about circumcision. I am trying to research whether it is a good thing or just recent fashion?
thank you for the reply. I do trust my doctor, but she says that i read too much on internet and get that i get too worried about every number on my u/s reports. what was you grading? how do they figure this out?
would not Fairfax Inova be also equipped for high risk??? i thought that was one of a few hospitals here with level 3 (highest) NICU units....? I am delivering there, unless it is not equipped. Please let me know

Also Patricia Bannon is covered by my insurance but she is not listed as high-pregnancy but rather as just an OB... Is she really high risk?

i currently go to Dr Andersen, Davis, Muasher practice, are the high risk?
Thank you, but i think i may be not a GD, maybe somewhere pre-GD. Thanks God no matter what i eat (i do not eat candies and cakes anyway), so far my sugar blood was quite below the treshold. And i do test ever 2-3 hours just to see how my body reacts to different things. Also what I found was the high blood pressure does mature placenta quicker, but GD on the opposite tends to slow down the maturation.
I am just wondering if anybody actually paid attention to placental grading on their u/s reports...
I am now thinking about getting high-risk OB consultation. Does anybody know a good high risk in McLean area? Vienna, Falls church would also work.
I am a patient of dr Andersen, Davis practice, but not sure if they are high risk
Well, placenta grading is maturation of placenta. When you only start pregnancy it is grade 0, then it progresses to grade I, II and III over the time. That means the placenta gets older and poorer to transfer nutrients to the baby. Grade III is ok at 37 weeks but not earlier.
PP above, what you are refering to is placenta placement in the uterus, which I have high and fine (thanks God for that), far enough from the cervix.

It seems doctors do not really care about grading of placenta in america as long as it does not show someting rediculus (like grade III at 25 weeks). I could not find much info on internet about it either. While in the country where i am from (Russia) doctors would probably already start thinking about giving me something for better baby nourishment... to make sure it grows normal. well i think i will not worry yet then, but will definitely ask my ob next visit.

Maybe somebody here on the board is aware of their placenta grading and the gestational age???
Hello
At 27 weeks i was old my placenta grade was II. The doctor does not seem to be concerned at all, i.e. she says it is absolutely normal. I read on internet that garde II should occur at 30 weeks or later... Is anybody here knows anything about it?
Well, this morning my fasting reading was 84, which I was happy to see. But my ketones... I am not sure if I interpret the color right, it is still between trace and small. I will try during the dy and see if I ever get negative just to make sure that the color is actually exists.

As for the days, it seems good so far, even after total carb snacks (like crackers and apples) I still have normal readings.

Hope to go like this further
Hello
I was diagnosed with the GD at 27 weeks. I started doing ketons test and sugar test. In the morning i found ketons to be "small" and my fasting sugar was 104 (higher than 95 expected). However during the day after the meals I have my sugars in good ranges quite below the tresholds. I will definitely talk to my endo, but wanted to hear some epxerinece form others? how to remove ketons and improve fasting sugars?
I am the OP.
i am not sure if it is ok, but my doctor seems to be ok with it. I am contracting and doing terb every 8 hours. Contractions are painless. i am in horizontal position abou 80% of the time (i go to bahroom, shower, cook a bit, eat). My cervix did not chnage over the last 10 days (3.5 sm), close on both ends. My doctor is ok if i go to work. i need to go to work only to drag to January 1 since when i will be eligible for short term disability payments and 12 weeks of fmla. there are only 4 days left to complete the year, i was thinking if i would be ok to appear at work for 4 days (there are holidays in between them so that i can rest between the days). I am very uncertain whether I can do that or not.... i can not afford to be unpaid for 3 months, but i do not want to put harm on my baby.
Any thoughts would be appreciated
I am the OP. i am on 28th week now. has been home for 2.5 weeks so far mostly in bed. I do go to toilet and get up to it and take shower, other than that i try to keep myself in bed.

THe PP who started at 32 weeks terb, did you have changes in cervix??

My 1 hour test came back elevated by 4 points. My 3 hour test was well within the normal range. I was told, however, to "try" to cut back on carbs since the first test suggested that my body was having at least some issue with processing sugars.

what it means 4 points? I had sugar level 170 with the limit 140 i think
Thank you all. I am ready to do whatever it takes to have a healthy baby. If I have to only drink water for the remaining time, i will, as long as baby is ok. I just want to make sure that it is treatable and if I succeed in maintaining the sugar levels, the baby will be ok. I just need to know that it is treatable and with appropriate diet and sugar tracking I would be able to have no affect on baby.
thank you for the reply, i read somewhere that the second test only confirms for every third woman, i am so praying to be not that third woman.
but in case I am that unlucky one (God forbid), how bad is this diagnisis? is that easy to manage?
