Yep, instructions indicate that (let me go get it and quote it).... "Nursery (ages 3&4): Tell us about your family, either in drawing or writing."

There are specific instructions for each age group, for instance the next age up it says: "...(ages 5 & 6): Tell us about your family in drawing with some writing, and write your name."

All they're going to get out of my 2 year old is some odd scribbling...
Glad to hear my 2.5 year old is NOT behind on his development.

Regarding the request..we ARE still in the application process. It's part of their app. forms.

Oh Wow, I didn't even THINK of that! I was so focused on having to get my child to draw or write I didn't even realize the question was a bit on the sly... Thanks for pointing that out!
Hi all, I'm enrolling my first born at a local private school and the school is requiring that I submit a student statement for my three year old! They specifically state the child should do it themselves and to just have them color or write about their family. Maybe a three year old can do this, but my two and half year old doesn't grasp the concept.

Is this a normal request? Did you have to do this for your toddler? Can your 2 year old write or even draw a picture?

I'm just curious now if I've managed to screw up my child either by keeping him home with me all this time and therefor can't do these things or is this school just wacko and I should run now!
No kidding...DO. IT. NOW. I thought everyone was crazy telling me to apply the day I found out I was pregnant. Now I'm at home with a 2.5 year old and 4 month old and scurrying about trying to find child care... I have NO CHOICE but to plunk down a fortune for a nanny since I can't even consider any daycares with their 2 year wait lists. In-home care seems difficult to find/assess...it's overwhelming!
Anonymous wrote:By long-term, I mean beyond one year. How many times a day was your child breastfeeding at age 1? At 18 months? If you were working, was DC still taking bottles during the day?

I know there's no such thing as "normal," really. I'm just trying to get a sense of the range out there. My son is 11 months and between breast and bottle wants breastmilk 6-7 times a day. He's not very keen on most solid foods yet, but it's definitely improving. He'll now eat around 2 ounces of solids at each meal.

I didn't read all of the responses so I'm sorry if I repeat something that's already been said. I breastfed my first son until he was 16 months old (he's 2 now). He breastfed almost constantly, I was stay-at-home so that was no issue...what was an issue was he seemed to have weight issues (as in not enough weight gain) and he too had an aversion to solids. It turns out he was just pacifying and not breastfeeding - no clue if this is what's happening with your little one - but I thought I'd share.

Also, the moment I stopped breast feeding my son's sleep issues disappeared. He was waking every two hours to breastfeed (pacify) and then started sleeping through the night almost immediately.

I now have a 3 week old and intend NOT to breastfeed so long because of these issues. I will likely only breastfeed for 9 months to a year.

Obviously, this was just my experience and is likely very different for you and may very well be different with my youngest baby...just wanted to share my experiences.

Good luck!

Anonymous wrote:I am very confused on if I got tickets or not. I got to the last step where they say click once to get the tickets, which I did, and got a 7 digit number, but then I got kick off, so I can't figure out if I got the tickets or not. Nothing was sent to my email as of now but the messages says you'll get the printable tickets in your email on april 6-8. Are you suppose to get an e-mail confirmation right away to assure that you got the tickets?

How frustrating...what a mess this is... I'm curious how things are going to flow the day of...those who got tks...please post back here and let my curious little mind know...
I've given up on it by the way... I'm headed to Stead Park for the Dupont Circle Neighborhood Egg hunt.... probably will be less chaotic anyway.
Anonymous wrote:For those of you that are still trying. I logged in around 9am. After gettting the main screen where it listed the time groups. I selected the time I wanted and it sent me to the ticket number selection page. I entered the number of tickets I wanted (4) and after some delays got the response that they number was not available (this is extremely confusing since I wasnt sure if they were sold out or if a lottery was in effect). After trying for 2 tickets and getting the same message. I decided to try for another time slot. (it helps if you can open other explorer windows). After this failed I went back to my original time slot. and tried again. After about 4 tries for my original 4 tickets I eventually was "granted" 4 tickets. Upon being pushed to the registration page, I was timed out. I reloaded the page where I was granted the tickets and tried to proceed forward again, this time it worked and I was able to register. DO NOT bother signing up, it is uneccessary.

I think that they page where you select the number of tickets is where the lottery/randomness is built in. I suggest you keep trying for the number you want a few times and hopefully you make it through.

Good luck. And fwiw, this is the worst designed process I have every seen.

The EXACT same thing kept happening to me except I never got a screen saying granted...I just kept getting a timed out screen and hitting refresh until the end of time!

I don't know why, but that made me laugh... thanks for the props!
Wow...found it fast...

The dupont circle (at Stead Park) egg hunt is sponsored by a realtor. To RSVP go here: http://www.lindsayreishman.com/contact.asp
Last year it was at Stead Park.

It's a coop type thing in that each child participating donates a dozen eggs towards hunt. You can donate hard-boiled dyed eggs, candy eggs or colored plastic eggs with a treat inside, etc. It's for ages 1-10 and I think we had to RSVP to go.

Now that I've brought this up, I'm not finding info anywhere on-line about this year's egg hunt... I'll email the organizers and see what's happening and post back here.
Figures.

When I saw ticketing opened on Thursday, March 26th I figured that meant midnight. There I was like an idiot at midnight logging on to find it wasn't open yet...with a two week old baby I could have used that valuable sleep!

So at 8:00am I logged on and sat there trying for two hours to no avail. I've lived in DC for 9 years and have tried for 6 of them to get tickets for this event...it just isn't meant to be! Grrr...so frustrating!

oh well, we'll hit the Dupont Circle egg hunt again this year
yeah, I see that. However, their servers are not handling the load very well. I log in and it churns forever, then I get the "Chill Out" we've put you in our waiting room screen...more churning....then I'm pushed into the screen to book tks...click the time slot I want...more churning more....every click and every turn the system churns or kicks me out where I have to hit refresh to get to the next screen then I finally enter in the verification code to find the slot is sold out... choose another time slot and everything is repeated. There has to be a better way to do this. I'm glad the camping out for tkts is over with but this isn't working either.
