I am looking to buy a classic, plain Easter dress for my 1-year-old in NW DC (don't have time to schelpp to the 'burbs before Easter). Any suggestions on where to buy? Everything seems to have tulle, ribbons, beading, etc. and I am really looking for something classic and plain. Thanks. |
The "Carriage Boutique" line has dresses just as you described.
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with possible shops in NW. I do know that Why Not? in Old Town Alexandria carries them. I hope you find something closer! |
How much do you want to spend ? I know Nieman Marcus has something but...
I would 1st check Macy's downtown OR Lord and Taylor in Friendship Heights. |
Zara at Metro Center might have something. You also still have time to order online. |
Not in NW but Monday's Child in Old Town Alexandria also Lads & Lassies in Bethesda, MD |
Wanted to add this online store:

Zara has baby clothes? i never knew! |
Magic Wardrobe and Piccolo Piggies in Georgetown, Tree Top Kids (clothing store) in Wesley Heights all have cute simple smocked (and unsmocked) print dresses.
|
Tree Top Kids in Foxhall Square has beautiful, classic children's clothes. |
These three are absolutely your best bet. ![]() |
OP here. Thanks so much for all of these suggestions! I also didn't know Zara sells baby clothes. I've never been to the Tree Top Kids in Wesley Heights. Does it have a better clothing selection than the one at Chevy Chase Pavilion? |
I'm the person who suggested it, along with Magic Wardrobe and Piccolo Piggies. I have to say that the selection was really sparse when I was there last time. I would recommend Magic Wardrobe first. I went by yesterday and they had gorgeous dresses - little traditional smocked solid dresses in spring colors, pretty Liberty of London spring prints - perfect for Easter. It's on Wisconsin Avenue in G'town. |
Tree Top in Chevy Chase Pavilion is primarily a toy store. In Foxhall (is this the same as Wesley Heights?) they have separate toy and clothing stores - the clothing part called Tree Top "Kids" instead of "Toys.". It is absolutely my first stop for holiday clothes. |
OP here. A huge thank you for the recommendation of Magic Wardrobe. I had never heard of it and the dresses there were *exactly* what I was looking for. Couldn't afford shopping there on a regular basis, but it's the perfect place for a special occasion dress. |
Check Ebay. I know it sounds strange, but I just got a gorgeous smocked dress for DD and paid $23 including shipping. I Googled the brand (Silly Goose) and it retails for $68. Oh, and I also got a brand new Kate Mack bathing suit for $14! |
