So, I'm due with #2 in March and my son will be turning 2 in January... we've decided to wait longer before sending him to daycare, but that means his toddler classes are hosed. Do they let you take the baby in with you? I can't see how this will work since you'll need to interact with your toddler...ugh...

Any tips beyond daycare or nanny/helper?

Thanks!
I was told to stay away from Mushrooms too (as well as peanuts, deli meats, un-pasteurized cheeses...I'm sure you all got these same lists). To the original poster, I'm not a big seafood eater so I can't help you specifically with the seafood. I was, however a HUGE cheese and meats fan, that was like telling me I had to quit eating. When I was pregnant with my first it became a fun challenge to try new things, and really when you look at it... you can eat a whole lot of different foods. It's easy to get fixated on what you can't have. You can have Italian food, French, Indian, Mexican (all depending on your aversions of course). I just finally settled in and had fun with it.

The problem I had was lunch time at work. I was accustomed to running out of the office, grabbing a sandwich and running back to eat it at my desk. I finally had to accept that change as well and actually TAKE a lunch so I could get a cooked meal.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll work it out.

Thanks so much for all of the information. My email address: jennrgolden@jennifergolden.com

I belong to a Yahoo group called MomsInTheCity and I received the following response about Little Flower from one of the moms:

Jennifer-

I've spoken with parents of three little ones who attended Little
Flower and they all loved it (the kids and the parents). I've visited
the school myself and the head teacher has a great vibe about her. I
was going to send my Simon there starting this summer, but we hadn't
started potty training him yet, and they do ask that the process be
well underway first.

Good luck,
Claudia

The thing for me is the price of all the popular schools are out of my range, at least until I return to work. Little Flower's prices are right on target for us. I don't know what to say about that potty training thing she mentions. Every book I read says most kids (boys especially) are no where near ready to even start potty training until roughly 28 months old. So...I think I'm going to have to hear that "rule" from the headmaster herself - it's not mentioned on their website at all. But then, it's not a real good website either.

funny, I was just going to post if anyone knew anything (good or bad) about Little Flower and thought I should search the forum first... My son will be 2 in January, and the school is an easy 5 min walk... i just know NOTHING about the school at all.

Thanks!
I just found that I'm due with my 2nd child in March next year. I'm kicking around the same ideas as my son (my first child) will be a little over 2 years old when the new baby comes. My husband and I long ago decided that when it was time for our son to move from his crib we would be placing a double sized mattress on the floor for him. We both liked that rather than buying a toddler bed.

Currently, I'm thinking I'm going to get a simple bassinet or co-sleep bed for the new baby and let our toddler sleep in his crib until whenever. Whenever being when he seems to be interested in sleeping out of his crib or is capable of climbing out of his crib. As for the new baby - I breast fed baby #1 until he was 1 year old, I plan to with the new baby as well. So, for my sanity and sleep deprivation - baby #1 will be in the room with me until I ween him/her from night feedings. Once night feedings end and if my son is still in his crib, baby #2 gets to sleep in the pack & play. That's what I'm thinking right now. I'm not real keen on the new baby sleeping in the pack 'n play - I may break down and buy another crib...
I'm interested in a NW DC pediatric dentist too. I'm actually having a hard time coming up with 3 good recommendations to check out. I'd like to at least "comparison shop" a bit. I'll def. be checking out the PP suggestion. Any others?
