It's fun if the weather is nice. We took mine at about 2.5 and he was too young. It ended up being more of a photo op for us rather than memories for him. I think 4yo would be a good age.

Word of warning regarding tickets. You need to camp out to get them. Last year, I went at 4 am to get in line. We stood in line until around 6 am or so. At that point, security had walked through and counted off to get ticket count. They sent everyone home after a certain point in the line saying that we would not be able to get tickets. We asked him what time the last person got there that was able to get tickets, and they said that person had gotten there at midnight.

I read in the Post the new social secretary of the Obama administration saying that tickets for the egg roll will be given through the internet, not by lining up. Not sure when this will start, though...

so I logged on to get tickets this morning and, of course, the website is hanging. Has anyone successfully logged on gotten tickets? How sad...I bet their servers crashed...did they really expect only 2 or 3 people to log on?!

It's a complete disaster.

just like the inauguration event! I wonder if I do manage to get a ticket if it will be worth anything!

They are releasing set amounts through out the day at random times. The current batch is sold out. So just have to keep trying at random times through out the day.

yeah, I see that. However, their servers are not handling the load very well. I log in and it churns forever, then I get the "Chill Out" we've put you in our waiting room screen...more churning....then I'm pushed into the screen to book tks...click the time slot I want...more churning more....every click and every turn the system churns or kicks me out where I have to hit refresh to get to the next screen then I finally enter in the verification code to find the slot is sold out... choose another time slot and everything is repeated. There has to be a better way to do this. I'm glad the camping out for tkts is over with but this isn't working either.

We did get tickets. It's not easy but think about the crush of people logging in at the same time. The timeslots are gone now so I think it's over.

Did it tell you that you got tickets, or did it just say that you were signed up? We're still trying to get through.

Figures.

When I saw ticketing opened on Thursday, March 26th I figured that meant midnight. There I was like an idiot at midnight logging on to find it wasn't open yet...with a two week old baby I could have used that valuable sleep!

So at 8:00am I logged on and sat there trying for two hours to no avail. I've lived in DC for 9 years and have tried for 6 of them to get tickets for this event...it just isn't meant to be! Grrr...so frustrating!

oh well, we'll hit the Dupont Circle egg hunt again this year
