We used Ms. Shoba for our 2 kids from the ages of 4 months to 3 years old and were very happy. She has a very loving family and household. The kids were very prepared for preschool following her care.
She is very reliable and we never had any concerns. Her home is convenient for North Arlington and McLean residents as well. We dropped the kids off and parked at the WFC metro.
Shoba at 703-534-5088 has an opening in her in-home day care now. (I live in the 22213 zip code also.) She took care of my two kids from the time they were 5 months to about 3 years old when they entered preschool. She is licensed and takes care of a few kids in her home. She lives in Falls Church City near Broad Street and Lee Hwy (near the pancake house). I highly recommend her. She is really reliable and her whole family truly loves the kids and my kids really liked them. She was a blessing to our family for the 5 years we used her, and have kept in touch since then. Give her a call.
The lady that has taken care of my daughter and son over the past 5 years now has an opening since my son is starting preschool. She has been a real blessing to my family and has been extremely reliable. Her whole family is extremely loving towards the kids.
She's licensed and keeps a few kids from infants to about 3 years old in her home, until about the time they are potty trained and enter preschool. Her home is pretty close to West Falls Church Metro which has lots of parking, so it was very convenient for my commute.
I really appreciated all the help and support Shoba provided to my family, and could not have asked for anything more over the years. I've also met several other parents that are grateful to have her take care of their kids as well.
If you need someone in the Falls Church City/N. Arlington, Virginia area, consider giving Shoba a call. She can be reached at 703-534-5088.
I went with an in-home day care. The centers I visited seemed a bit chaotic for an infant. I did get on about 3 waiting lists, but didn't find out where I stood after several months on the lists. Ultimately I called licensed in home providers in the area and found one I liked, and between my two kids I have used her for 5 years. Both kids started there at about 5 months old. Once my kids became about 3 years old, I moved them into day care centers. Shoba actually has an opening now since my son is leaving. She's at 703-534-5088 and isn't too far from the West Falls Church metro. She's been a real blessing.
PS After my kids became potty trained, I sent them to Columbia Baptist Child Development Center.
Definitely work with the lactation consultant and see if you can make it work. My daughter did not latch on well and wasn't gaining weight. She had jaundice and needed to gain weight. I also had a c section so I was on pain meds which I stopped. None of it worked for us including pumping and then taping tubes to my breasts so she could nurse that way. So it seemed like I was either pumping or trying to nurse constantly.
Ultimately it didn't work with her, so I made the emotional decision to stop trying so hard to nurse. I still pumped for about 4 months and tried every once in a while, but didn't try to nurse directly very often. Do what you need to for your child and yourself. Sometimes it just doesn't work and you need to be able to not feel guilty about it.
The son I had a few years later who latched on well and we didn't have any problems. I don't know how I made it through that rough time with my daughter.
Good luck, and take care of yourself physically and emotionally.
I live in North Arlington near Falls Church City, and recommend Shoba (703-534-5088) and she gets openings every once in a while. She's cared for my daughter and now my son. She has an opening now, but may also have one in Sept. If my son cooperates, he'll be potty trained so he can enter preschool in Sept! No potty, no preschool!! Good luck finding day care...and in potty training a few years from now!
Depending where you are in North Arlington, also consider Falls Church City. I found a provider for my 2 year old that was on my way to the West Falls Church metro. I pay a bit over $200 a week so apparently the rate varies. My provider takes care of a few kids in her home by herself.
Hey Beth, we probably cross when we're dropping the kids off, but haven't met in person. I use Ms. Shoba too, and really like her.
To others that are interested, she took care of my daughter for 3 years, and now watches my son. She is in Falls Church City near the corner of Arlington (just a few minutes from the Calico Corners someone asked about). I drop off my son and then drive to the nearby West Falls Church Metro.
I found her by going through the licensed providers at the Falls Church City Web site. I cold called several places and settled on her home after interviewing her. Her whole family is great with the kids. She's been a blessing and extremely reliable.
The person that watches my 2 year old has an opening now in her licensed family day care. (I actually came online to post a general statement that she has an opening, so I decided to post to your question as well. Others on DC UrbanMoms have used her as well.)
She's been a blessing to our family, and has watched my daughter (now in preschool) and my son since they were infants, and both have loved going there. She and her family are very nurturing, loving, and reliable. She watches a few kids up to the age of about 3 1/2 years in her home.
Her home is located in Falls Church City near Broad Street (Rt 7) and Lee Highway. I drop my son off, and then drive to West Falls Church metro to park and ride the metro to work, so her location is convenient as well.
If you're interested call Shoba directly at 703-534-5088.
