looking for a good day care in Bethesda. We live near the Westmoreland Circle/Sumner place.
Thank you.
bump!
I am looking for a preschool for my girls who will be 2 and a half in september. However, most ones I called only provide half day for 2 year olds.
does anyone know of one near the Bethesda area that would offer before and after care for 2 years old?
Thank you.
I had bloating since 6 weeks of pregnancy. I started "showing" my bloatiness by 10 weeks. Uterus still in the pelvis at that time. Lots of gas and distension. There was NOTHING I could do except to have the baby. So sorry to say but I don't think there is any treatment for this, but the good news is that it will go away after the baby
Thank you. Will find the book and trying to schedule a hearing evaluation.
TV...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I wish I could throw it outI actually stopped it for a whole 10 days, lying to him that it's not working. He is allowed to watch one 20 min program on a school nite, provided there are no complains from the teacher. This is suppose to be his reward! previously he was watching 2 shows regardless. on weekends, he is allowed 2 shows only, totalling 40 mins per day. Is the TV show reward not right? He is getting more involved in playing and reading since we cut down the time, but it is this one reward he does look forward too. he brings a book to us to read every day now. I am working on the bedtime ritual...he has so much energy though, even the nites he is in bed by 9 he doesn't sleep till ten!
PP: I appreciate your posting on this forum. I know it's difficult to give an opionion as a specialist on a forum. I am looking into an evaluation for him, as soon as we move to DC (we haven't yet). My personal feeling is that he just needs consistency, and structure, but ofcourse I cannot ignore the complains from school even though it's J-K.
He is the youngest in his class, and there has been improvement these last few days. I see him doing some things spontaneously, without the "reward bribe". I will definitely look into the book you recommended.

Currently reading a book by "Jacob Azerrad", any information on this Psychologist?
most of his "no listening" is in school when the teacher wants him to stop doing something in class. Mostly it is pertaining to him talking when he is not supposed to. At home, it's more when he is watching his "scheduled" tv program, it's like he can't hear! He is also "loud", that was more the reason the teacher recommended hearing test.
I started wearing maternity pants very early with my twins. I found the full panel the best. they were lose in the begining but fit well later, and unfortunately I am still wearing them even though the panel is a bit lose. The other ones I found helpful was one from GAP which has and adjustable waste. that's something you can wear throughout pregnancy and post pregnancy, it falls on you pelvic bone. I didn't find the half panel helpful at all, as the belly grows, it gets too tight.
got most of my clothes on line!
Thank you so much. You're the first to provide any direction. I will ask his doc to see if I can get a hearing evaluation. His teacher suggested it too. Thank you again.
we implemented the "brownie rule" for my DS.He is 4 and a half. (don't know why I chose the word brownie). anyways, for starters he has to collect 20 points and then he gets something of his choice. If he misbehaves we take points away. Its very gradually working. Only 2 weeks now. More magic words spontaneously. I praise him a lot and don't give anymore empty threats like I used to. Also involved his teacher and being very consistent. No multiple chances anymore. we'll see how he does. I do talk more with him, explain things and involve him in consequences. his problem is not tantrums, its more of a constant need to play with someone, talking, seeking attention and not listening. but I do see a change. I don't use negative remarks anymore, like stop or don't. I hope it works. looking for other ideas!
I had a changing table with my son and I used it a lot and loved it. Thought I won't get it this time for my new babies. and I totally regret it now. There is still time and I am going to get one soon. sitting on the bed or anywhere else, even changing in the crib for me has been painful. I am struggling with where to put the diaper, where to find the wipes etc etc. Maybe I am just not a good organizer, many people don't use it do great. I need to be better organized somehow!
sounds very normal to me too!
I am interested to know why you thought montessori was the wrong fit. We were going to try to get DS into a montessori for this year!
What can I try doing at home until his evaluation which would probably be next year if this behavior persists. I guess I want to give myself a chance to see if this is because he is the only child and "spoilt" or that he truly has hyperactivity, in which case it will show up on evaluation. However, even with a child with ADHD, there must be things one can do to make things improve.
