work full time but with super flexibility - work in tysons, live in reston/herndon area. DS is in daycare in tysons
We are in need of a vacation -- DS is now 14 mo and we are looking at traveling in late MArch/Early April. Not a long trip -- 3-5 days. We are open to flying or driving.

Years ago we went to Aruba and LOVED it -- but DS is too young for the hotel kids camp (must be 3) and not sure if hanging out at the beach/pool idea would really work. We LOVE Disney but think DS probably too young to really get it yet. I've heard Paradise Island is great and lots to see with the aquariums, etc. And perhaps there are direct flights from WAS or IAD?

What about something like the Homestead or Greenbrier or Nemacolin?

Thoughts? HELP!
DS is 13 mos and does the same gagging thing you mentioned when he gets milk in the sippy -- he is getting better, now will take a sip or two before pushing it away. totally fine with water in the sippy though and sucks that right down.... i think you just have to keep offering it to her. Also-- we mixed the formula and milk in the bottle -- 4 oz forumla, 2 of milk, 3 and 3, etc over a period of a few weeks to get him used to it. now, will suck a bottle of whole milk right down! so, i know he isn't rejecting the milk per se -- just the milk in the cup! ARGH!
Love love LOVE the practice we are going to.

My DS is also 13 mos old. Had 5 ear infections in 8 months and always seemed to have fluid in them even if they weren't infected.

Went to the practice our Ped rec'd and it seems to be like the only one out there that has specialist ENTs on staff that only do Pediatrics -- Otolaryngology Associates ( http://www.otolaryngology-assoc.com/). We saw Dr. Bahadori who is just amazing (Dr. McBride I've heard good things about). The whole staff for his initial consulation was fabulous.

We just had the tubes done Friday at the Fairfax Surgerical Center. It was such a non-event. Seriously --we got there at 710, surgery scheduled for 840am. They took him in a bit early at 830. I got to go into the operating room with him until he was put under. I left, disrobed from the operating room scrubs, walked back to my DH, was telling him about the waiting room/playroom where my DS and I hung out with other parents waiting with their kids, told him about walking into the operating room and literally before I was finished telling him about what he missed, the Dr was there telling us it was over! We saw my DS a bit later in the recovery room and made it home to Reston by 915!

My son was a bit cranky at first (and he did cry a TON in the recovery room) but when we got home, he ate a nice breakfast, slept a little and was running around by that afternoon as happy as ever (and, might I say, walking better, steadier, and faster than the day before).

Anyway - would DEFINITELY rec this practice for your second opinion (read the docs bios online -- again, one of the few practices out there that has docs who specialize in peds) and if you do have to go the route of tubes, I have to tell you, our expereince was fabulous.

Best of luck to you!!
LOVED my thigh highs! For work I bought the ones at Target -- very very smooth and soft. I wore them prepregnancy and still wear them. I love the Donna Karan ones at the dept stores but they are about 3x the cost of the Hanes at Target. I'm only 5 ft and a size 4 but have had no problem finding them to fit, stay up, and not be too tight.
sorry for my multiple posts -- don't know what happened!
it was very lamase-ish -- the instructor was certified thru whatever the lamaze association is. he went back to the hospital for a separate hospital tour and ended up also doing their CSection class as part of it. But no == the lamaze class offered thru INOVA is really lamaze.
I knew I would probably have a Csection for various reasons but wanted to go thru the Lamaze class. LOVED our instructor thru INOVA health (something like CAtherine Ingleterra??). We took class at FAir Oaks but I think they offer them at all the hospitals. We chose to do the 2 hour or so 1x a week for like 5 weeks or something like that and loved it. My husband can't watch ER without getting woosey and gets all nervous in medical type situations... I figured best to ease him in and so that's why we decided to stretch things out.....
It was a great "Date Night" for us -- we'd get dinner, go to class, etc. I thought a great way to get him involved in what was going on -- relaly made him feel much more part of the process. AND it was cool to be with other preggos and new daddies to be. We did it (and everyone in my class) at the end of the pregnancy -- one woman wasn't sure she would make it to all the classes! Even though I ended up having a Csection -- SO glad I went thru the class... and will prob do a refresher if we are lucky enough to be pregnant again!
