So I was thinking about just going bare legged with my dress for tomorrow night party, but it is a bit cold and the baby seems to suck all moisture from my skin so perhaps hose would be a better option.
Any suggestions for where to purchase and any kind that works better than others? I would really like something nice and sheer? |
I can't remember the brand name, but I bought a nice pair a few years ago at Mimi Maternity. I'm pregnant now and am also looking for maternity tights. Sorry to hijack the post but if anyone knows if you can get these at Target, etc. or is Mimi/Pea in the Pod the way to go. |
I read a pregnancy fashion blog that was raving about these tights...

Blog itself is http://www.pregnantfashionista.com/. She's a little 'high-end' for me, but these tights seem like a good idea... Just Say No To Leggings (Please?) and Keep Those Legs Warm in Sternlein’s Maternity Tights December 7th, 2007 It’s incredibly cold in New York today (although please note that I am not complaining–anything is better than the Israeli desert heat) and I used the occasion to break out my Sternlein Maternity Tights. Those Germans at Sternlein aren’t joking around–these are some damned warm maternity tights. I threw on a short dress and some boots over the tights during yesterday’s snowstorm and I was surprisingly toasty warm. sternlein.jpgWoven from a thick, high-quality, organic cotton with 2% lycra, Sternlein tights put your typical maternity tights to shame when it comes to keeping your legs warm. They are completely opaque and extremely comfortable. They are also ribbed so, no worries, they don’t look like leggings (I truly despise leggings, especially maternity leggings). sterlein_2.jpgI’ve never seen Sternlein Maternity tights sold in a store but they are currently available online here on Babytalk’s website in three colors–black, chocolate brown, and charcoal grey–for USD $34.99. They are also available here in Roundbelly’s online store for USD $29.99, but in limited sizes. And they are available here at TightsOnline for USD $38. I can’t explain the price disparities, but one of those locations should have your color and size. They definitely run big, so order the smaller size if you think you might be in between sizes this winter. I’d also advise handwashing and then line-drying these tights, which is what I did last night. I think that is the best way to make sure they keep their shape. One warning–if you are looking for belly support, these are not the tights for you. The adjustable elastic waistband pulls up over the stomach so they are very secure, i.e., no need to hike them up while you are standing on the subway or the bus. But there is no additional support in the belly panel. |
Thanks PP but unfortunately I need something for tomorrow night so ordering online won't work.
I am not really concerned about warmth too much - just something to avoid bare legs in my dress more for look really. |
In that case, I got a really nice pair of maternity hose at Macy's Pentagon City (maternity is in the intimates section). Hue makes them, and so does Mimi. Good luck! |
Thanks PP - I think I have to go by pentagon tomorrow anyways so this might be easiest! |
LOVED my thigh highs! For work I bought the ones at Target -- very very smooth and soft. I wore them prepregnancy and still wear them. I love the Donna Karan ones at the dept stores but they are about 3x the cost of the Hanes at Target. I'm only 5 ft and a size 4 but have had no problem finding them to fit, stay up, and not be too tight. |
I bought the Spanx pantyhose and mid thigh shaper from the maternity boutique Apple Seed in Old Town (they also sell online now) and I love them. They are just like the non-maternity hose. The midthigh shaper is great for wearing underneath pants and dresses in the summer. Really suck you in. |
