There is a huge mix of people in different places on this board. I think the main reason is most families positions are constantly changing. I don't live in DC now, but I did when I joined. I work now, but didn't when I joined. Eventually, I did move from DC, but I like the board so I'm still around.
Another reason is the popularity of this board is far reaching. So many people visit it, maybe through word of mouth or random search on the internet. There aren't many boards like it that have so many visitors, that people can post anonymously to, if they choose. But that's just my opinion.

I live in VA and work part time. I actually feel the opposite from the OP. I feel like many of the people who post here live in DC given the vast number of private school and nanny postings.

I'd be curious how many post from the outlying suburbs? I think there are likely to be less from say Loudoun County or the far reaches of MoCo.

Lots of people in VA & MD have nannies and send their kids to private schools!
