It tasted like lemon pledge to me.

Now that you say that....it does a little. But I still like it. It tastes like a sparkling water version of creme soda to me.

When did you book the flight? American is currently offering "change fees waived" for flights booked during a certain time. They might not refund you, but could possibly waive any change fees so you could use the credit towards "move in weekend" or "parents weekend" or something. It's definitely worth calling and asking.

I saw that notice unfortunately I booked before March since I was trying to get a good fare and not wait too long. That sure backfired. I might try calling but I can’t see them trying to help me out:

I booked in February too, trying to get a good rate. I guess I should have waited too. I’m bummed. It makes zero sense for them to offer refunds for travel booked in March but not February.

It is worth a call. I think they are offering the change fee waivers for travel booked in March as an incentive for people to book travel without worrying about canceling. I booked a trip on Delta in late Feb. and decided not to travel. I contacted them yesterday and they were very nice and readily agreed to waive my change fee. It did take a while to get through to customer service. I used the on-line chat and just kept it up on my browser. They responded after about an hour and then they took care of it in about 5-10 minutes.

Really? That’s very encouraging! Do you have to rebook though? I don’t know when I’d rebook.

I got a credit for the airfare and have one year from when I originally booked it to use it. Hopefully, the travel situation will be much better in a few months.

I'm on hold with them right now, and have the online chat open as well. It's taking forever- I'm 28 minutes on hold so far.

It takes a while. I called around 8 am on Friday and was told they would call me back within 2 1/2 hours. I had a chat open at the same time. They responded to my chat about an hour after I opened it. I also got a call back about 2 1/2 hours after I called but I had a resolution by then.

I agree with mini sandwiches. I would do turkey/cheese and maybe some with sunbutter. Add fruit kabobs, chips and maybe veggies/dip.
About a year ago, I had a habit of going on my way to work once or twice a week for the egg white version of the egg McMuffin (maybe a teeny tiny bit healthier) and an iced coffee with no liquid sugar. I went gluten free for a couple months and dropped the habit. No longer gluten free but haven’t been back. I think it is ok in moderation but I simply don’t care for their food (except those darn egg McMuffins).
Hmm. If it were me, I would be hurt if my SILs were not there. I get it if they have a prior commitment out of town but I would have hoped for a more personal response, either a text or call to let me know they couldn’t be there and were sorry to miss it.
While it depends on the kid, I think 14 is just a little too young. I wouldn’t necessarily be worried about parties but things can happen (smoke alarm, severe weather, etc.) that a 14 year may not have the judgment to deal with. We left my 17 year old alone for a weekend and she was fine. We have family nearby (literally down the street) who knew she would be there, invited her for dinner, and were available if she needed anything. I was not worried about parties with her because that would have been the last thing she wanted.
We have stayed at several AI resorts in the Playa area. We have gone with extended family groups each time (about 25 people) and it works great for a large group. We are there to spend time together (we actually like each other) and generally don’t leave the resort. We are going back to Grand Velas next winter for the second time. It was the nicest one we have been at and the food is very good. Not extraordinary but very good for an AI. I have also stayed in Playa at a rented condo with a group of four and we enjoyed walking to new restaurants each night on 5th ave (the main shopping/restaurant area in Playa). Personally, I prefer exploring the city and finding new restaurants but an AI has a lot of benefits and works well for large groups.
I prefer peanut but plain are the default. However....the M&M Eggs that are out for Easter are the absolute best!
We have a large, 45 lb., mini-goodle doodle. Like others have said, he is super sweet, cuddly, lazy and gentle. Loves people, gentle with kids and mostly ignores other dogs. He is a bit quirky but not in a bad way. He loves to take shoes but he doesn’t chew them. Just takes them into the family room and lies with them. We often find multiple pairs next to the sofa. He house trained very easily as a puppy. However, he is not great on walks. He likes to grab the lease and pull. Hard. He thinks its a game. My dh is the only one who can walk him. However, we are responsible for not training him well and own that.
It’s worth a discussion to talk a little more about why he wants it and you and your husband’s objection. At the end of the day, it is not a hill I would die on.
Anonymous wrote:Do you have a 15-16 year old? Because I can tell you, most older teens don't want to hang out with with your 12 year old. Geez.

Let me clarify. By “hanging out”, I did not mean shopping and getting snacks. Have you ever been to MOA? Have you been to the transit area when it’s busy? I meant getting caught up with a group of older teens that are not looking out for them. It’s just not an environment for unchaperoned 12 year olds. But hey. You do you. Drop your 12 year old off wherever.

Regular mall, possibly. MOA, no way.

I've been there, and yes, it's big, but that makes it riskier how?

It’s like a small city with a large transit hub for light rail and busses. The mall is generally safe but I don’t think a lot of 12 year olds are mature enough to fully understand potential risks. There are definitely areas in which large groups of teens tend to congregate and that just isn’t the place for 12 year olds IMO. In fact, the MOA does not allow minors under 16 to be there without a 21+ escort on Fridays and Saturdays after 4:00.

Still seeking clarity on what the potential risks are. Hanging with older kids?

Hanging with a rowdy group of 15-16 year old teens, that are unsupervised, intimidating, and that I do not know, is just not something I want for a 12 year old. I think there is a big difference in the maturity and judgement between 12 year olds and 15 year olds. I’ve been to MOA countless times. Just not the place for an upsupervised 12 year old. With a parent nearby? Sure. At a different, smaller mall? Sure. Dropped off at a movie theater? Sure.
