We're having DS' party at the community pool and are providing dinner -- but I am so tired of pizza.
Thinking of chicken nuggets with lots of sauces. Any other good ideas that the kids can grab and go? |
Chick Fila Nuggets. |
Empanadas |
California Tortilla |
1. Mini sandwiches. My kids like those Hawaiian rolls with turkey, ham and cheese. Get a melon baller and make a bunch of fruit balls -unless they are under 4. Save some fruit balls and make a jello mold with the fruit suspended in it.
2. Get cheese quesadillas from CA tortilla and something else for adults - more expensive than pizza but good. 3. Chicken nuggets are good but not every kid eats meat. |
The only problem with chicken nuggets is that it doesn’t work for vegetarians, so if you go that route I would have some kind of alternative (even if just chips and hummus and cheese). |
Chinese food |
Fine but please warn parents. We are vegetarian so I'd have to bring our own food. We've done subway. |
At the pool? So gross. |
Why? |
Lots of good ideas here. I’d search for delivery places near the pool and see what you come up with. If there is a Mexican place cheese quesadillas are a great idea IMO. Many will also setup a small taco bar. Or would DH be able to go and pick food up at all? So many places have to-go options in bulk. Chicken or BBQ could also be great, depending on what you get. These options are obviously more expensive but you might be surprised. You can still bring a fresh fruit platter etc to supplement. Chick fil a is also a good idea for sure.
Otherwise, I agree with “slider” type sandwiches. Turkey, ham etc. Maybe a few plain cheese ones also. |
Chick Fil A
They gave us a keep hot bag like Door Dash has. |
If it were me I’d put in a order for fried chicken at our local grocery/deli and have DH or a friend run and get it at mealtime. At least half drumsticks.
Then bring a fruit tray, veg platter, cheese/crackers. Vegetarians can snack on the side items. I am also tired of pizza. |
Sub or sandwich platters from Corner Bakery or Fresh Direct or your local deli. We also did something like this for the last party because I'm sick of pizza. |
You’ve gotten lots of good ideas. Is there a power outlet at the pool? If so, you could do hotdogs (they’ll keep in a slow cooker etc on warm if you make them right before you leave). Then just bring buns/fixings/chips/fruit etc. Not particularly healthy but kid party food rarely is. I’d much rather have a hot dog than pizza, at this point. I’m pizza’ed out. |
