I think it is not so much that federal workers aren't good workers, I just think that the vast majority of them are in the wrong jobs.

As Dave Ramsey says, a good organization isn't just getting the right workers on the right bus, it is getting the right workers in the right seats on the right bus.

It's called efficiency and some parts of the government just aren't run well.

When I was in high school back in the 70s, I had the chance to take the civil service exam. I purposely did not because I didn't want to get pigeon-holed into what I thought would be a dead-end job. And a lot of the GSA workers just looked dead to me. They wander around those windowless buildings and just looked pale and listless. Bored. When you're bored...just just aren't productive. Some of my former classmates are still in those jobs and haven't moved up or even made a lateral move in 25+ years. Ugh.

Are they overpaid? I don't know. I just know you couldn't pay me to work in a federal office. Ever.

Is is okay when searching for a nanny to work, that you ask that they don't bring their own children to work? I know it is tough for folks to find child care and I don't want to be a pain...but I would just rather that they not.

They work great for the problem you describe.
The Bar-T Kids Camp at Sequoyah Elementary was abysmal this year. What's more...all the owner had to say was, "have a good summer" when I complained.

They had their money....and thus, didn't care the quality had tanked.

My son is at Bar-T at Sequoyah Elementary.

In years past it was a stellar program. This year, it's abysmal. They'e shoved all the activities into one cramped room. A trip to a local pool that had serious hygiene issues.....and a staff that looks like they are beaten with a stick on a regular basis. This year, there is no music....no dancing....and when I went to pick up my son, the kids were tossing balls against the side of the building. they were so bored.

I am about to move him to KidsCo Inc., instead. Same school. Better program.

My son is a second-grader who is having reading problems. I think it was the transition from Montessori to Catholic school that left a gap in his gaining a good foundation particularly with vowel and blended sounds.

I am searching for a good program that will bring him up to speed efficiently.

Any suggestions?
No tension household. Get to buy what I want, when I want. I choose the schools, the camps, the dinners on Friday night and once he's in bed....my time is my own.

Whoo-hoo!
