I'm like a PP who checks out this damn story every 12 minutes.

I read SOMEWHERE that Empire was slowly writing him out of the show. Of course, I have no idea where I read it. But NOW I'm reading that they're standing by him. Can you film in prison?

Just saw this.......

Fox is considering removing Jussie Smollett from production on “Empire.” Sources close to the production told Variety that producers are weighing whether to suspend the actor after he was charged Wednesday in Chicago with filing a false police report.

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox Television, which produces the series, declined to comment. Smollett’s status on the show may change amid a fluid legal situation.

So, they are "considering" removing him............
I remember not too long ago that an actor who supported Trump was removed because of a tweet.

It's my understanding he was already on the chopping block. If that is true, this hoax would be a very clever end around on the production company. Now they can't fire him due to the optics. But that's a pretty long game for someone to play. Given how he has handled the current situation (changing lawyers midstream, giving incriminating interviews) he isn't that clever.

This is so wrong on so many levels but I am glad the law enforcement is on it. If it indeed turns out that he orchestrated the attack for personal gain, he should be fined heavily to deter others who might be tempted to plan fake hate crimes.

A psychological evaluation must also be in order.

He will receive jail time so as to deter future hate hoaxers.

Jail time is unlikely and would be miscarriage of justice to treat it any differently than any other false police report.

Do you think any reported hate crime from a non-celebrity would entail 12 detectives putting in over 1000 hours of investigation? Of course they should make an example of this moron.

Conspiracy to what?

As I see it, they didn't do anything wrong, legally. They didn't file a false police report.

They helped him stage a fake assault. That doesn't count toward anything? If I'm driving the get-away car, I'm in trouble, too. The brothers knew he wanted to blow up this incident.

The brothers clearly cut a deal with law enforcement. This was obvious the moment they were released last Friday and CPD announced that they were not being charged and that the investigation had taken a different turn.

CPD said there was no deal because the brothers hadn’t done anything illegal.

I think the whole thing is funny. It will be a made for TV movie comedy I think. 3 really stupid people can do hilarious things.
Kind of expensive for Chicago- 20 detectives on it when 1 in 6 murders are solved.

put him in prison. what he pulled is not a joke. people need to see that if they pull this kind of stunt, there will be prison time.

Instead of making Jussie out to be some villain, we should work together to gain a better understanding of the issues that prompted him to take such an incredible risk to shine some visibility on the rights of others.

LMAO, dude did not do this to "shine some visibility on the rights of others". He did this to avoid getting fired from the show. He did this for himself.

This whole thing is dumb.
Half or most of the claims are probably fake anyway.

This is said with tongue firmly in cheek, right?

I'm no lawyer but what he did seems to me to deserve jail time.

It's not only the false report. He actually orchestrated an attack (on himself).
