Do you know that the average bank account in the UAE is in the millions of dollars? Except for Oman, citizens in all these countries rely on varying very generous government handouts that have results from all these deals. As to elected leaders who dare to trod the line the West does not approve of--that's called foreign policy. All countries practice it? Last, democracy is fine--as long as you elect the right guy. Or woman. I'd say history has proven this, over and over.

So? How much money do I need to give you before you waive any demands for participatory government? Really, I want to know how much you value your voting rights. Name your price!

The right guy according to whom? You?

I'm so glad you acknowledge that the "values" of democracy and human rights are in the back of the line way behind "foreign policy". Please remember that any time the U.S. criticizes a country, ANY country, for its lack of devotion to democracy and human rights. The appropriate response to this type of criticism would be "So?"

uhhh….my point is the "people" of the region have been complicit. It took a long time for the West to achieve democratic institutions. Have at it.

In 2011 the people of the region in Bahrain (not sure why you put people in quotes, maybe they aren't really people to you) tried not to be complicit and asked the government for more participation. Guess what happened? The government has suppressed, detained and tortured the protesters, with UAE and KSA armies brought to the country, and the U.S. looking the other way, as if saying - why should these sandmonkeys have democracy? Who knows what they might do if they have power! Better support the dictators we know!

Saudi Crown Prince MBS privately disparaged Khashoggi as a dangerous Islamist in a phone call with Jared Kushner and John Bolton. Big contrast with MBS’s public statements decrying Khashoggi's death

Jared needs the Saudi $ to prop up his shaky real estate investments. He doesn't give a **** about ethics and morals.

He has already been bailed out. The question is, will he pay any penalty for apparently having used American foreign policy as a personal piggy bank.

Looks like Khasoggi's death will force a truce. What a powerful legacy for a man who died too soon.

For three years America has backed a Saudi-led coalition fighting Houthi rebels in Yemen. But international anger over the recent murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a dissident journalist, in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, has focused attention on Saudi foreign policy. On Tuesday James Mattis, America’s secretary of defence, and Mike Pompeo, the secretary of state, unexpectedly asked the Saudis to accept a truce.

Ha! So ironic, considering that Khashoggi was a cheerleader for the Saudi campaign in Yemen as recently as 2016, claiming that the Saudis stand "with the people of Yemen", saving them "from a dictatorship" and a "sectarian" rule - two terms that can be applied so aptly to the kingdom itself. Strange are the ways.

And there were posters on here calling Khashoggi the same terms, working the same character assasination the MSB did in the phone call to Jared (the Post above about Post article). Hmmmm. Some Jared or Ivana lackeys working this site? The truth will out you.

The question is - why do you need to pretend Khashoggi was perfect to weep for him? Is the death of a flawed person less painful for you? I would hardly think that referring to his publicly available views counts as character assassination. I've posted a link where he defended Saudi support for the carnage in Yemen, it's there for you to see.

See posters such as you? Really unkind to strangle someone the minute they walk through the embassy doors to pick up a marriage license. I call that assasination. And than to continually try to blacken his name, character assassination.

Did I say it was kind to strangle him?

So what you're saying is this: "I don't want to know that Khashoggi supported the war in Yemen. I don't care that he did."
Anonymous
No. What I am saying is MSB needs to be brought to justice.

Honestly I don’t understand why Jared and the others don’t worry that they or their relatives could be next if they mess up in some way. I mean they travel to foreign countries - how could they feel safe forever. Does extended family of a president get a security detail for life?
They’ve got to be thinking now that they’ve intertwined themselves with some nasty violent hearted people - shouldn’t that worry them?

Yeah, but he’s betting that you’re a typical numbskull who will be swayed by what he says . A good half of this country is currently stupid enough to be similarly brainwashed. Keep up the good fight.
