Right now? It’s always been horrible, like handmaid’s tale horrible, where have you been that you think it suddenly got horrible? |
It seems to be unfolding that the Trump IC had intercepts that Khashoggi was in danger at the hands of the Saudi's and didn't do anything.
And now Trump and the Administration are playing dumb with reporters on the world stage. I fear that this Administration is complicit in the brutal death of Khashoggi and there will likely be no reprucussion from at home or abroad. The rise of the authoritarian state in the US. Journalists be damned. Truth be damned. |
We have no idea how much Saudi money is flowing into Donald Trump’s pockets while he plays dumb about the, murdering a journalist, and House & Senate Republicans have (and continue to) fought like rabid dogs to keep it that way. |
I keep thinking about the briefcase full of intelligence Kushner gave the Saudi crown prince when he visited KSA. That led directly to the imprisonment of many Saudi reformers. I hope kushner feels some sense of responsibility for what happened |
He got 666 paid off for his deeds; he doesn't care. Party over country and personal interests over party or decency. |
What is our President going to do about it? |
From BOTH sides of the aside. Let's be honest. I lean right and I love my Prius every day since I bought it in '05. Why are Libs still buying gas guzzlers? I don't get it. |
It's fun to read how it's all Trump's fault.
The journalist is alive. Sorry. |
Link? |
Why are you sorry he is alive? For that matter, what evidence do you have that he is alive? Have we really reached the point that being pro-Trump means that you have to deny any world event that might make him look bad? |
Apparently that is, in fact, where we are. |
I lived in the Gulf for close to ten years. Even from a detached layman's perspective, it's staggering what the "experts" often get wrong about ME politics and family dynamics (the Gulf, for most practical purposes, is a series of family and tribal rivalries). If by humble roots you mean he wasn't of the house of Saud, fair enough, but that's not what humble means to people in the Western world. |
I also lived in the Gulf, though for not as long. I didn't use the term "humble roots", but I imagine the Nic Robertson meant exactly what you said. Khashoggi had "humble roots" relative to the centers of power and wealth in the country. It is sad that a man was apparently murdered by his government and then had his body dismembered and a CNN reporter's description of his roots is what is getting attention. |
