Whoa?!?!? |
| Uh, which team had players suspended during playoffs for dirty hits? |
Agree. |
|
Madison HS won 2 straight and barely had any college bound players (like 1?). Robinson and Braddock Road both had a few going to college. Not to mention Yorktown, and some Loundoun schools sending more to college too.
Is it because Madison has has a bunch of great players while nobody is great and the other schools only had a few great players and rest of the team are weaker? Just better team work team/play at Madison? |
The dude, much like the Robo, can coach |
|
No doubt the coaching is top notch at Madison, both on and off field. But there is talent as well. Last year, they had 2 seniors go on to play (one lower level D1 and one higher level D3) but several others could have played D3 but chose not to.
This year's senior and junior classes have multiple kids that will play in college (several have either committed D1 or have D1 offers). |
Coaching is more the X's and O's. From what I have seen at different events and in season games, Madison players play reckless, they have no class, they talk trash, they cheap shot opponents, and their coaches allow it to happen. Not sure that is "Top Notch". |
I second that statement. Also very surprised no one has never said this or pointed this out before... It is a very accurate point. |
| No one has said that because itโs not true. ๐ |
Sorry none have committed and D1 offers is not a real thing yet people claim it all the time. An invite to visit the school is not an offer. Unless you are a top 50 player and they have all already committed, you do not hold on to multiple offers you either committ or you do not. |
|
Dirty or not, that shouldn't affect the outcome of the game that much. If you foul you get penalties.
It has to do with 1) talent 2) team work 3) coaching |
| So the sentiment seems to be that Madison has won three out of last four 6A championships without any D1 talent and mostly by playing dirty lacrosse ... got it. ๐ That coach must have some mythical powers. |
| I've seen Madison play a bunch of times and never thought of them as particularly dirty. Some of their fans are quite annoying but the team itself seems pretty disciplined and plays good team ball. |
I am not a Madison parent, but respect the job their coaches do with those boys. I do not see their players as dirty and have gotten to know many of them through hs seasons as well as club ball and offseason competition. They are passionate and intense on the field and their play takes on the personality of their coach. I would think thats what all coaches want from their boys. Leave it all on the field. I think you see that with all of the top tier teams in 6A and thats why Madison, Robo, Yorktown, and Battlefield are so tough year after year and regularly in the discussion come June. |
Winning without d1 talent is a credit to the coaching. But then again so is calling for a stick check on a game winner in a state final. |
