where does Independence compare to those six teams? I heard they dominated the VEL league and are supposed to be good headed into the spring season.

Hmm they lost to Riverside 17-6 last year. Good luck this spring, in 5A, Independence.

I was curious so looked it up on the lax numbers website. In their last 3 meetings, Riverside has outscored Independence 58-13. I also, don't believe Riverside really lost much from their team last year.

I am sure Riverside will be strong but they did lose a D1 Attackman and several other good seniors. All teams lose players but to say the did not lose much is not accurate.

Last season, Independence lost to Battlefield 13-2 and Freedom 18-6. They are not close to the top teams in Class 6 or to Riverside.

I've always thought Fallbrawl was a waste of time. Some of the better teams now play in real 11v11 fall tournaments against top competition. Riverside is playing in the Atlantic Coast Showcase this weekend and has games against St. Albans, PVI, and Episcopal Dallas.

Oops, wrong season. Duh. Fall is for football.

I am going to guess that you have never played in a game at Fall Brawl.

Good guess, that means I am at least 39 years old, but I don't see your point. The tournament wasn't around when I played, but I have been to more than my share of them and coached at them for years. I don't like the format, think it leads to bad habits, and think that the time is better spent elsewhere. There is still a good turnout and plenty of teams are going, but many of the coaches at the top programs in the area seem to agree with me and are going elsewhere.

We live in the Madison HS pyramid and know kids who are lacrosse studs and stellar students who played for Gonzaga and PVI (not necessarily from Madison area) and went on to play D1 in college.

Madison has been winning state championships but is still a significant step below PVI as shown in last year’s scrimmages. It’s going to be a hard decision for my son when the time comes.

If you live in the Madison area. Then you should probably go the private school route.

Why? All of the PVI/Gonzaga/ST. J kids who committed did so by being evaluated in the fall and summer prior to junior year and all through the club. Lake Braddock HS had four D1 committed players who also played at the same club. HS was not the deciding factor

Because they live in the Madison area, I thought I said that?

It's a rival who doesn't like losing to Madison every year apparently...

Haha you mean the Madison cheaters, who steal players from other schools and teach their players to play dirty lacrosse. Yeah, that's where I want to send my kids to play high school lax.
