VHSL 6A Boys 2023 Rankings and Results

Madison's success is from a multitude of factors, coaching is very strong, not only the head coach but also his assistants.

The Madison LSM will probably be All Met again this year. As mentioned, for a NOVA public school, they have a very deep squad. They gave Landon all they could handle last year.

Additionally, Vienna Youth Lacrosse is one of the most well run youth programs in NVYLL. They have multiple teams across all age groups. It's no surprise that the top NVYLL programs, tend to have the most successful public HS programs. Madison/Oakton- Vienna Youth, Langley/McLean- Great Falls & McLean, Robinson - Braddock Road

I would not leave out Dulles South, the Loudoun HS programs are smaller but the team that worked Madison last season in a pre-season scrimmage was made up of Dulles South and a few Ashburn/Algonkian players.

Agreed, left DS out of ignorance on where the majority go to high school. DS is a tremendous youth program.

Matchups this season you’re excited for?

How good are the public high schools in Richmond area? Richmond Hawks is getting better and have a few middle-school aged top-100 ranked teams, probably can play in Hoco AAA if it wasn't the distance.

Atlee is a very solid program and can compete with any team in the State. Many of the top players in Richmond end up at Saint Christopher’s or Collegiate.

Dulles South is a great program. The only problem is that most of their best players are spread out so thin across all of the High Schools they keep building.....

Schedules mostly are not out yet. Madison opens with Riverside and that should be a great game. Riverside apparently hung in there with whatever team Georgetown Prep sent out this weekend. Hopefully Madison and Robinson will schedule another regular season game. Yorktown/Langley, Yorktown/McLean and McLean/Langley should all be good. Not sure if Freedom or Patriot can run with Battlefield this year.

Atlee is the top public in Richmond and one of the best teams in the state. They went 20-0 and beat Riverside and St. Christopher's and Woodberry Forest last season. Cosby is improving and beat Battlefield last year in the semis.

Nice. MaxPreps also has Atlee playing Madison on 4/13. Both should be great games.

If so, that is really cool. Reigning Class 4, 5, and 6 State Champs playing each other.

Oh geez those fans….

They also have more high schools that feed into their program than anyone else (Lightridge, Freedom, Champe, Independence, Briar Woods and Roick Ridge).
