Very few Men's D1 lacrosse players receive any amount of athletic scholarship. A fully funded D1 program (which is less than 50% of the Men's Program) is 12.5 scholarships. Rosters today hover around 50 players. He is a great player, recruited by a great school, in a great lacrosse conference, not sure of the need to come to a lacrosse forum question his commitment announcement and classify him as a walk on. Only men's D1 recruits receiving full scholarships are either Top 5-10 recruits (or Goalies & FOGOs), or more than likely, only those attending Army, Navy, or Air Force. |
| Yorktown at home against robinson on a Friday night, that game will tell us a lot about where both teams are. Under the assumption that those are 2/5 teams contending for states this year. |
| Curious to see how the McLean/O’Connell game goes…. |
Could be a good game but don’t think either team will be a top team this year. |
Atlee graduated alot... I think Madison vs. Riverside will be a better game. |
| I’m interested to see Robo vs. Cosby in their mid-season matchup. |
McLean is returning almost their entire starting roster from last year and were competitive....don't overlook them again this season |
Fine but O'connel will not be a factor in VISSA or WCAC |
| McLean will be good again and likely will beat O'Connell. O'Connell is a weak private and got beat pretty badly by John Champe last season. McLean is better than Champe. |
Cosby is pushing themselves this year with games against Madison, Robinson, and Langley. Should help them in the playoffs. |
| Definitely would like to see those matchups when Cosby is fully rested. |
McLean was right there last year and just about dethroned Yorktown in the District Final. McLean does, indeed, return most of their impact players and, if I'm not mistaken, Yorktown lost a talented bunch to graduation. |
| Yorktown may have lost a ton of talent but with the coaching they have, I believe to see them in a similar spot they were last year. Especially considering they return quite a lot of key players including probably one of the best attack in the state. Now I know people have said it before but what are your guys lists in order on the top 5 teams most likely to make a run for states? |
|
6D looks the most competitive. Madison favorite again, but Yorktown, McLean and Langley should be in the mix for the other spot to states.
6C is Robinson and whoever else makes the regional final. 6B is Battlefield then Freedom or Patriot. 6A is Cosby. Rumor is now the state semis will now flip matchups like what is done with other sports. Would make some great match ups! |
| Region D SHOULD be between Yorktown and Madison again, can Yorktown get over the Madison hump? Excited to see! |
