LCPS sexual assualt - who is held accountable?

I guess we have to trust that the judge got this right. I hope so.

Nothing like blaming the victim.

Mike Tyson went to jail for a long time.

+1

He was belligerent and ranting about the trans policy.

Of course you lock that S up.

His daughter was raped. The board members lied and said there were no sexual assaults in any school bathrooms. You really think a 10-day jail sentence for him was appropriate?

His settlement is the first thing I've been excited about paying for with my tax dollars for a long time.

Even chipped in a little to the GoFundMe.

Both of these kids were too young and emotionally and mentally not ready to be engaging in the behaviors they were. High school kids should not be meeting in bathrooms to have sex at school. That already indicates to several other red flags for both of them. However, it’s abundantly clear that the male student wasn’t aware that consent can be withdrawn at any time and just because your partner agreed to sex and even willingly went along with it at first doesn’t mean you can keep going when they’ve said stop. That’s honestly something parents need to be explaining to their kids if they’re sexually actively. Consent can be withdrawn at any time and once it has been, continuing is rape. The girl probably didn’t know that either, or maybe she did, but wasn’t aware of the risk involved in the series of choices she made either. Both of them paid a price but unfortunately that is what happens when children who aren’t equipped and whose brains aren’t fully developed are doing adult things with kid brains and bodies. Both will need much guidance and counseling.

Consent can’t be withdrawn after the consensual encounter is over.

Well according to the victim, and affirmed by the judge’s verdict, she withdrew it during the encounter. After that point, continuing would be rape.

Accountability is coming. Mark Herring was worthless when kids were locked out of school, and even more worthless with this sexual assault and cover up.

Tell that to college administrators.

They tried the case so I’m sure there will be an appeal. If that’s the case, this isn’t over. If the boy admitted to forcing her to have sex against her will, can respect the verdict, but what I heard didn’t sound like there was enough evidence of rape.

Internal investigation on the way. Hilarious this is coming right after the election, less than 24 hours after the incoming AG said he's going to open an investigation.

Where was Mark Herring? And the prosecutor for Loudoun County? (those are rhetorical questions)

Mark Herring is from Loudoun County and has been involved in Democratic politics there for decades. He was on the Loudoun County Board from 2000 to 2003, and was a State Senator representing there from 2007 to 2014.

He easily could have recused himself and turned it over to someone else in the AG's office. But no, the VA Democratic party was more interested in protecting their political power (just like the local party in Loudoun).

They were so interested in protecting their political party, they'll soon have hardly any political power. Serves them right.

Their only modicum of power is hanging on in the Senate by 1 seat, and they have 2 senators who frequently vote with Republicans (Chap Petersen and Joe Morrissey).

The boy says he “accidentally” sodomized her, according to his mother. She felt sick and didn’t want to have sex. He pushed her into doing it, and somehow accidentally penetrated her from behind. The rape kit showed force. The whole case is horrible.

Disagree strongly. The school board and LCPS admins 100% created and exacerbated a volitile situation. If this had been handled professionally from the start, the father would not have felt the need to go balistic. The targeted prosecution of him by a politically motivated prosecutor after the fact was beyond the pale.

+1 And the prosecutor knew why the dad had been at the meeting. She: 1)personally prosecuted the dad for a misdemeanor; and, 2) asked for jail time. Neither is normal for a misdemeanor.

This x1000000

It was calculated, political prosecution!
