What did Bibi do? Surely the right wing government of Israel would not let a terrorist organization take over Gaza? That would mean no two state solution. |
+1,000. |
And everybody in the entire world knows why. Unless Israel explicitly guarantees those potential refugees a right of return then they aren't leaving. The Palestinians are not going anywhere. Israel is never going to be allowed to deport them. Israel and Palestine are both going to have to somehow learn to live with each other. |
I agree. But here's what will happen. In some order, there will be a cease fire, aid will be allowed in to Gaza, and maybe some hostages/prisoners will be exchanged. Things will calm down for six months, or maybe six weeks. And then Hamas will start up again. If they are going to live together, then people who actually want peace --on both sides-- need to be in power and terrorists need to be imprisoned. |
What would we be f’d over with? Israel didn’t send any troops to help us in Iraq and Afghanistan like the rest of the world post 9/11. They don’t give us oil. We use them because they give us Intelligence apparently on the region . But that’s like asking the Mafia to help us stop European crime. Obviously a conflict of interest . We need to go back to being an objective country period . We need to be fair with Israel and not give them special treatment over the other countries in the region. |
I don't judge you for viewing, but I'm not watching videos of Israeli victims and I'm not watching this. The facts are the facts. Hamas sucks and must be destroyed. |
Yes lets show photos of all the kids killed in Israel AND Gaza. Then maybe people will have a heart. Half of the Gazan population of just 2 million are children. Half. And 60% of those killed so far there are women and children. |
Why aren't their moms out fighting Hamas? I mean seriously. Mounting a resistance to save their kids. Is that far fetched? Women played huge roles in the Resistance in WW2. |
Doing so will have to involve taking Hamas out of the equation. |
Yes it’s awful. It makes my heart hurt. Hamas could you know, release some hostages in a moment to ease the suffering. |
Firstly, Egypt and Jordan have already taken in around 3M Palestinian refugees over the course of the conflict. Lebanon another (nearly) 1M. Americans and Israelis calling for neighboring Arab states to take in more refugees completely misses the history of the past century, and absolves Israel from finding a two state solution. It's like blaming a neighbor for not giving you their car when yours has been stolen. Doesn't make any sense. Secondly, yes. The current Israeli admin is so far right extremist that peace is not an option. They have actual terrorists in the cabinet (BenGvir, eg) that cannot be reasoned with. These guys make our far right look incredibly tame. And Hamas must be ousted for the more reasonable PA. These are tall orders which will not be done willingly for either side, which is why it would've been so important for the US to show a modicum of backbone. But we did not and have failed to show any leadership in this region. It is heartbreaking |
The US did not want IDF involved in the ground in those missions. Duhhhhh. |
Or surrender! |
Because Israel is the one killing them. You've never been in a conflict, or at least that is what your language clearly reads. My DH is from the region and traditionally not a group that would sympathize with Hezbollah. But Israel bombed them, and killed them, and destroyed their country. In these circumstances, you will side with whoever is defending you against the aggressor. If you've never lost a family member to a bomb or an airstrike, it's really hard to explain. But the rage is real and for many of the people in the region, Israel has been the aggressor for decades. The other groups have come and gone but the atrocities of Israel have remained. |
