Well, I haven’t yet. We are distant relatives both in our 40s, newly single. We don’t really have any other relatives who are alive or who we are in touch with. I always felt a strong connection to him and get along really well. I also feel there is some kind of sexual tension between us whenever we talk or meet. Should I give in….or its a no, no. WWYD?
How distant? Did you grow up with eachother?
Need more details, how are you related?
How distant are we talking about here? As long as it's legal wherever you are, I don't see a problem.
No, OP. There are billions of people on this planet. Stay away from relatives.
Oh my goodness, this sounds like a V.C. Andrews novel! I am going to say no! Wouldn't you be embarrassed if colleagues or friends found it?
I mean it depends entirely on what "distant" means. Anything beyond first cousin seems ok, though I don't know, second cousin seems icky to me, too, but maybe just because I grew up with second cousins and my kids know a bunch (but not all) their second cousins.

yes, define "distant"
4th cousins, maybe 2nd cousins, no |
Distant relatives are fine from a genetic point of view, OP. Just don't broadcast the fact, because people are weird.
Details are important here. If you are first cousins, that's going to elicit a much different response than if you are second cousins once removed.
How distant? In most states, it is legal to marry a second cousin, in Virginia, you can marry a first cousin. No law against an intimate relationship in either case.
Relative as in related by blood. Just making sure it's not a brother of your SIL or something like that.
Show us on the chart where both of you are and we'll tell you if it's ok:
|
OP here - 3rd cousin
see, this is why people make jokes about VA.
