Jennifer Garner: What did she see in Ben Affleck?

Since we keep talking about Bennifer 2.0, it makes me beg the question of why Jennifer G and Ben Affleck got together to begin with. Unlike Jennifer Lopez, Ben never seemed truly infatuated with Jennifer Garner...I don't know why he kept having children with her.

It seemed like an unequal marriage where she adored him and he was bored with her. She doesn't strike me as his type. And for sweet West Virginia girl Jen, why didnt she marry a nice preppy doctor instead of bad boy Ben?

He has had several hot periods. I think when he's sober he can tslk smart. He comes with a cool best friend who's smart and hot. Eh, oh well.

This. I feel like everybody knows someone like this-- super charming and charismatic, the type that makes everyone around him feel special (when he wants to)-- but watch out if he loses interest. I feel like I remember Jennifer making a comment like "when his sun is not shining on you it gets very cold."

I mean I like Jen G. She seems very sweet down to earth but very surprised she did not see red flags. He isn't clean preppy family man material. He has a troubled artistic soul.

NP. I remember when Garner said that. But I just don’t see the charm or charisma. He really doesn’t appeal to me at all.

Although I hate to say it, since she seems like a sweet person and good mom, I think I agree. She ditched Scott Foley (#TeamNoel) for Michael Vartan and then moved on to Ben. I feel like she was just looking for the biggest star she could get.

She was obsessed with him and baby-trapped him as soon as they started dating. He only married her because she was preggers.

I think Ben had hit a point when he wanted to settle down, too.

She was the stable, sweet, low drama woman (despite her relationship drama, which they managed to keep under the radar a bit) with a nice family. I think he may have actually needed that after JLo.

I think it was good for a while, and he was actually doing ok-keeping his tendencies in check. There was even talk of him running for Congress.

Then he fell into his old habits/patterns and it all fell apart.

I think most celebs are not equipped for marriage to work long term. I mean look at the number of celeb divorces. I think celebs have teams of people telling them how great they are and making life really easy for them, and marriage is all about striving to BE a better person and grow up and do the work. I think Matt Damon had the right idea to marry someone like that single mom waitress and not a star.
